Since there are only 50 Apartments and 8 Cottages in a Village Node, will players who claim citizenship in the Node get bonuses to their Node Exp Contributions, or will the Node need to attract more people who don't technically live in it?

I don't get why you're still trying to convince Dygz. As you said yourself, All that's going to happen is you're going to post some links, he won't read them and you'll have to slowly and painfully explain all of that information here, only for him not to accept the parallel. I'm not even convinced that if another fantasy MMO showed up with the exact same Node system and showed the exact same effects that happen due to big Squadrons in Elite Dangerous, that he'd believe it would also happen to Ashes. Good links, tho. Hope someone else reads ...

According to the wiki, animal husbandry is under the 'Processing' umbrella, will this be changed or split up, going forward?

For me, I find that these were the most effective parts of the indicator shown in Alpha-1. Displaying the actual enemy level, whether on the name or on the life bar, breaks immersion and does not actually provide more information than the name color system. Ultimately what you care about as a player is "is this a threat?", and for intended boss monsters especially the number can often be misleading. Seeing a sea of deep red names when you enter an area is a quick and visceral way of knowing you're going to have a hard time there! I'm ...

You can definitely tell whether the combat feels right or not without spending too much time on it. I don't expect that everyone can do this, but I read every skill on someone's character in BDO that seemed to fit the kind of playstyle I like, and within like 15 minutes I was able to play fairly effectively. People decide on whether a fighting game's combat feels right for them within a couple hours, what makes something like BDO different?

I like jump buttons in games, and I really dislike using chest-high walls as a method of blocking progress. I think what was shown in Alpha-1 was perfectly acceptable, and I would be okay with having just that degree of verticality (plus the climbing stuff they had in the first UE5 showcase) because at least the world layout doesn't restrict you, the person on the ground walking, by things that shake you out of your immersion. That said, the existing verticality is not particularly interesting, it's just removing potential immersion breaks. I am satisfied with what can be assumed ...

The problem with lying as much as you do, is that eventually every person that would support you hears a lie that they have to call you out on because they know the truth, so you just end up with everyone realizing you're a liar. Both of the people you're talking to right now have played way more MMOs than you, and it shows. Maybe if you played as much as they have, you would realize that.

You've mentioned that Ashes will use methods to deter zerg tactics, but also that it will have a large max guild size, so can you give any idea of what number of players is considered a 'zerg'?

Except you don't need said random players to exploit the bug in order to find it. This problem has been solved for over 20 years in a different MMO - Kingdom of Loathing. They will mercilessly perma-ban anyone who performs a serious exploit...but at the same time, there is always a prominent "Report Bug" button throughout their UI, and if you do find something legitimately damaging, you get awarded a special weapon that is both very functional and can be shown off to whoever you want. Heck, they even have a "Bigger bugfinder blade" if you find something horrendous ...

Big fan of the jump button in general speaking. All I ask is that you don't catch From Software syndrome and fill the world with narrow wooden beams you need to jump between.

I play mitigation tank. The entire thrill of the fight to me is being able to control the flow of hate precisely such that my allies can spike DPS, or heal me in some way that rises threat from the opponent monster as a response to something they did. I think that this push and pull effect makes group coordination more important, because both allies and the person currently with aggro need to manage each other such that they don't perform actions that raise/drop threat too much. Plus, by having this available you also enable the capacity to drop ...

I don't think we're at the stage where this even makes sense to discuss. Threat generation as shown in the Tank Update is still in relatively early stages, and abilities that dissolve Threat to place it on other players have serious implications for PvE and raid encounters - imagine if you get say a smoke bomb ability as a rogue that drops all threat which you could use to dump enemies on someone, now the DPS has an easy escape option for mistakes they make during a raid and devalue tank skill. Supporting this type of play explicitly will ...

This will make the crowd that makes (or references!) wikis for the game very upset, especially if the variable that changes the quest rewards is obscured or non-obvious. The level of envy between two players who seemed to put in the same amount of work but got completely different rewards creates a big mess that distracts players from enjoying the game; instead, they'll be trying to dissect a mechanic for an NPC.

13:45:41 < GM> 1d64 13:45:41 <&Dice> GM, 1d64: 58 This already doesn't happen in FFXI. First of all, if you choose a different starting nation, your entire sense of what low- to mid-level progression is, is completely different even before you factor in differences due to your class benefiting from certain quests or even having class-specific quests like the Belt line for Monks. From a pure geographical perspective, a San d'Orian player tends to have a completely different experience from a Windurstian player because the areas of the early game are different for each distinct national start. Until you ...

Wow, they even plant the crops for you huh? So you just...auto-manage the farm. At no point are you required to do anything, and if anything that means anyone who actually cares about being a farmer whether in RP or otherwise is doing "worse" than the auto-planter/gatherers. Congrats, this is looking like an even less engaging farming system than BDO. I didn't think I'd see the day. Not feeling this one bit.

Really hope there can be lots of threatening rabbits in different styles. Nothing quite like fighting for your life against an adorable fluffball who also happens to be extremely powerful.

Even if it doesn't have the most polished graphics, I'm really happy with what the art team has done in terms of art direction. So many games fall off the cliff of maximum quality graphics while looking like brown/grey sludge, and Ashes worlds feel a lot livelier in every biome. I think art direction will win the day here.

As the tank in these fights trying to explain my experience in them, I forgot how difficult it was to clarify to people who haven't seen the TP gauge before or know about skillchain flows, what it does to the rhythm of the fight. In order to do enough damage to the Hydra to get through its regen, you need to focus on the TP gain rate of all your party members and that of the Hydra, and any time you increase the rate at which you hit the Hydra only means you could trigger more of the potentially ...

I strongly agree. If we have big rabbits, we need another big rodent for water biomes. Capybaras would add a lot of character to the Riverland biome ans give Ashes unique flavor, while also making South Americans smile when they think about the game. Capybaras would make so many people so happy. Let's capybara!

If you have a long enough cooldown and there's some form of CC protection in the game, then there's no issue because you can play around it. Either by building anti CC items, or by attacking when the taunt is down and the character cannot otherwise force you to shift your focus.

Hey, I work for an infosec company and I can tell you that it works exactly like this for hackers too. Underground forums and communication channels exist, and anyone dumb enough to try to pull a scam (e.g. by selling an exploit/database that is useless or not delivering) will be publicly shamed all over; it's flatly not sustainable for anyone to scam. What does proliferate is that once someone proves they're capable of the "hack" is their reputation increases and they become able to throw more money at the problem. Those with the most rep dominate and become richer ...

Except those same top guilds will be the ones fighting each other all the time, and the fights will end up predictable because it's the same person pool; the only differentiator at that stage is strategy rather than moment to moment direction. I think your perspective is still colored by your experience in fighters; I'm surprised you believe that there will be that much of a difference when you play a (by your own admission) unpopular fighting game (~150 total players on steam over the past month), where the top players often pick what they consider the top tiers ...

I disagree with the recipe portion because even with the reasoning of being something you understand from combat, it doesn't explain how you would end up stacking a lot of these. And if you don't stack them (you only get 1 because it's Knowledge) then how does that work in a party system? Would this turn into getting "useless recipes" or into changing the drop pool? You end up with a lot of variables here that could be good but they're a lot more work than dropping a specific lower tier item useful for another craft like a venom ...

First of all, great showcase! I really like the winter version of biomes, it’s very immersive. Ranger animations were also stellar across the board, and you did a great job of showing off everything about the class. The idea of someone who can carefully plan their hunt and then do a ton of damage all at once because of their planning is very fitting for the concept of a Ranger, and it’s reasonably well executed. Big props to the animation and art teams! Now for the problems. Wow, you really made ranged Khaimera, huh? I didn’t even know that ...
