Are these fountains connected to the nearest dungeon? As in, does the energy go up if you kill only the dungeon's mobs? Cause otherwise people will just grind up some random mobs to get the energy to go destroy everyone's fountains before even entering the dungeon. How does the buff interact with the party composition? Is it just "buff anyone who's currently in the party"? Cause I definitely foresee alt clerics with built up energy just standing on stand by, in case the party needs a second buff. L2 had a party recall ability that would just TP out ...

So any member switches would mean that the party becomes weaker. This kinda fucks over most pugs, because afaik they quite often can change their roster throughout a farming session, because someone gotta afk or leave. This would also apply to any guild parties that have several people that play at slightly different times, while some stay throughout the whole evening. I guess that could be chucked up to "you can't win everything" design, but in context of potentially a lot of pvp, I dunno how many people would be willing to suffer the consequences of someone's irl situation ...

You won't drop anything, because the sacrificial lamb won't have anything to drop. If your suggestion requires this to be a flagged death - the lamb will even suffer half the death penalties. This is literally nothing, when compared to the whole group dying and dropping their valuable loot (even if at a halved rate). TPing the whole group out means circumventing the pvp system, not improving it. Again, I know this because I literally played with this system for years. And that was in a game where you could already TP at will. Ashes won't have that (outside ...

Rez scroll pops you up directly where you were lying dead. It has nothing to do with teleportation. Basic resurrection action will pop you up in some different place, yes, but at that point you would've "paid" for that "teleport" with your loot. Your suggestion allows a whole party of people make a controlled teleport at the price of a single controlled death. People will minimize their losses by trading any droppables away on the lamb and suiciding after that. When the whole party has to die (as would be the case with a successful ambush by an enemy) ...

Even outside the potential teleportation abuse, I think this would lead to smaller amount of pvp, while also removing people from the game because running back would be considered a chore. I think there could be stages of respawn points. If you die in pvp once - you get the closest possible point. If you die in pve - you get "entrance" of your current location. If you die from a PKer - you get closest and entrance. If you die from a player (purple or red), say, 3 times within a short period of time (10 min?) - ...

We have no real idea of how the respawn points will work, where they'll be located or how they'll be balanced. This was exactly why my previous discussion on this topic didn't get far. I didn't want to speculate or theorize about smth that we have no damn clue about. But you obviously don't have that issue, as has been evident from your arguments in these past few threads. Yes, effectively a respawn can be considered a teleport and a rez can be considered a reverse teleport, but their abusability would only matter if we did in fact only ...

If your idea was just "cleric can setup a respawn point within a certain distance and the party members can choose that point when they respawn" - I'd have almost no issues with that. Hell, I'd probably even like it, because that would make pvp way better. But that wasn't your suggestion. And when I brought up issues with your suggestion, you didn't try to argue against those issues or change your suggestion. You just started arguing semantics of the word "teleportation".

L2 let you respawn at the nearest town or your fort or your clan hall or your castle. WoW had you run a ghost to your corpse or get a debuff if you wanted to "teleport". And I'm sure there's a ton of other mmos that have their own designs of respawn mechanics and locations. And so far, the only respawn mechanic that we know for sure is that PKers will respawn at random locations. Though even there we've got no clue if it'll be within some area or literally anywhere on the map. You like to argue against ...

Lower ceiling for whom though? The mage's pvp would now be harder, because others can predict his moves easier, so his ceiling is higher. But properly predicting the timing and properly moving to the right spot before mage even makes the jump would be a pretty high ceiling for others imo. As for channeled blink - make that an augment.

Why would we develop your idea for you? The only reason I described what I would've preferred was because you didn't address any of my concerns with your original idea. Instead you were just happy that a person who disagrees with you was disagreeing with you. And Lae had the same point. You suggested a thing. People criticized your suggestion. But instead of explaining your suggestion better or arguing against the criticisms you dodged all of that and did the very thing you accuse me of doing - find every train of thought that was not about your suggestion ...

You probably missed it behind your glee of the fact that I disagreed with you, but the reason for my disagreement was literally the fact that L2 had a system that was really close to your suggestion. I disliked it there and didn't want it in Ashes, especially in the context of almost no TPing here. I then proceeded to find a middle ground, where your preferred "respawn gameplay" was still implemented, but wasn't as OP and as pvp-breaking as what I experienced in L2. You instead started arguing about what constitutes "teleportation" and went off about "child-like mind ...

It does not indeed. Doesn't get any more obvious that any discussion with you will just devolve into avoidance of the main topic and unacceptance of any kind of critique. This has been your reaction with pretty much any member of the 2 threads that hasn't just outright agreed with you. You're the only correct one, while we're all trying to regress the game, mind trap you or whatever else you can come up with as justification for not addressing the critiques that were presented against your statements.

And it's been said before that clerics can't be replaced when it comes to properly difficult content. L2 had a tank/healing combo on one of the summons. And while it definitely helped when you had 0 healers, your content availability would be on the floor, because majority of group content would require healers. And L2 was most likely easier than what Ashes plans to be. But even outside of that, as I said before, we've got no info on respawn points locations, so cleric respawns might not even be all that OP. And you could always balance them with ...

It will come down to the summon's ability pool. Healers will have a ton of variety and tools and all that good stuff. I somehow doubt that the summon will somehow have the same amount of stuff. Obviously we'll have to see how far Intrepid take it, but for now I'll stick with "parties will need clerics if they want to survive the open world".

What in your opinion would be the "progressive" way then? Make everyone do everything? Make every class completely self-sufficient? Make content so damn easy that any party setup at any amount of members can always clear it? So far your only suggestion for the game's design has been cleric respawns. It came from your dislike of the entire cleric archetype in pretty much all other mmos. Obviously we're all here too old for you and have regressive views. But could you present us with a progressive one so that we could at least understand where you want the genre ...

Your own thread starts with your dissatisfaction with the classic healer archetype. You later describe that reactive healing boils down to just heals, which you find boring (as the statement above indicates). You then explain a somewhat proactive way of using heals in the form of proc/combo mechanics, but you dismiss them as a bad design. That last sentence goes directly against the second quote in this post, because that is exactly what Intrepid showed in the showcase. That is, the "Conviction" mechanic. And the cleric stream itself mentions proactivity of this mechanic. Conviction is a class resource we ...
