That is true and I do hope we see more of the "action" side of the combat. But outside of smth like BDO, I don't think that people would move all that much during easy fights and so far we've mainly seen easy fights. In other words, I'd say we'll have to wait for a more challenging pve encounter to see if Intrepid apply all their tools to the combat. We saw the melee showcase and it looked quite actiony. The ranger showcase also had run&gun gameplay. So if both of those are still in the game - sooner ...

I'd like an update on nodes. What's their progress? Have we gotten to stage4 development or will early alpha2 only have up to stage3? What about the semi-randomized placement of buildings when nodes grow. What about racial attributes in architecture? What about design plans for the remainder of the unexplained nodes (from the "know your nodes" series of articles)? What about mayoral elections of different nodes, do we have any updates in design and if not, what exactly is the planned design? In other words... nodes.

I rarely interact with feedback threads outside of my main message, but do they often go off-topic? Cause I made a separate thread in order to not muddle the proper feedback with discussions that might not pertain directly to the topic. But if this way is easier for yalls to report feedback to devs, I guess that's fine.

Asmon is quite bad with multiple enemies (a self-reported issue), so even if these toads are on the harder side, for him they must've been abnormally difficult.

Also, literally the simplest but huge increase in difficulty would come from a requirement to kill each of them within a short period of time of each other. I think some dark souls had that mechanic and even L2 (in a later update) had a twin boss that you had to kill within a short time window.

@Elleandrias I suggest you compare Azherae's number of messages and post vs yours. You've barely even been on this forum while Azherae is one of the most prolific and well-respected posters.

Do yourself a favor and don't bullshit people with these kinds of links. You posted a 1080 compressed video that was taken from a 1080 supercompressed stream that was reacting to a low settings gameplay in a compressed 1080 video. Here's how TL truly looks (ultra settings with balanced dlss) and it's fucking incredible and I definitely hope that Ashes can at least match it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H3zwi4gwrU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iISN9I391jE

Yeah, UE5 definitely supposed to look better, but to me rn TL looks better as a whole, while Ashes just has a few good separate visuals. But all of that is obviously fixable in time, so I'm not too worried about that yet. The optimization will also be super important, cause TL was incredible for what it is.

It does And btw, even this screenshot is still artifacted and would look better when you're playing the game.

People really are out here in 2023 not knowing about video compression on twitch/youtube and keep thinking that their 3pixel screen shot of "a shitton of effects going on" is a proper representation of how smth looks on your own screen when you're playing. Smh my god damn head.

The first few images on google search for "lens flare" show those exact hexagonal shapes in the light. Does "lens flare" match the fantasy world of Ashes? That question has a subjective answer. To me it falls under the "stylistic choice". I also prefer that they have a much more dull lighting rather than fucking "burn your eyes out at each spell" kind of lighting. This to me looks way better than an alternative of "the whole room is now blue" As for the Cyclops showcase, I think Mag is right, they currently have a problem with how snow ...

What do you mean by "blocked"? If you're talking about light spreading further than what we see or shining through things correctly, then I thiiiink that's the Lumen I was talking about. And as I said, I'd imagine that it has its own potential issues, especially in the optimization department. They might've tried the fight with it enabled and it came out looking like shit, performance wise, so they went with a more simplistic visual but a better performance. But I definitely think that this can be developed/optimized later on, because right now we need more base lvl stuff ...

Natural light goes far, reflects off of a ton of stuff and is almost all-encompassing. Natural light in a snowy location is fucking insane. There's a reason why you need proper eyewear for when you're snowboarding. You get blinded by the snow because it reflects the sun in a very harsh way. And even at night you see everything much better because there's way more reflected light around, even just from the moon. And that is exactly why I prefer the current duller look. That electroball would've blasted the entire space in white-blue light, if it was "realistic". And ...

Do you have an example from a game for what you're talking about? Cause I think I understand, but I'm not sure.

Lol, I just watched a piece of that video Mag posted and the dude was talking about hard and soft shadows and explained why they are the way they are. And that screenshot fits perfectly with the explanation, and those shadows fit perfectly with that scene. At this point I agree with Mag that you don't really know what you're talking about.

Literally what I was saying Lumen, snow and indirect reflection of a highly reflective surface. No lumen in that showcase (I assume due to performance) and no "realistic" snow reflections. I'm sure that'll be fixed later on, but I would personally prefer the current iteration, cause as shown by that video the light gets really fucking bright. Here's what I imagine the light to do. Red circle is the rough center of the light source on the ground. Red lines show the path of the light. Green lines is the light creating a shadow. Yellow lines are the reflections ...

Browse https://ashesofcreation.wiki/ to learn a ton of details about the game. Alpha2 is under 2 years away (but no exact date). Druids can be different, so dunno whether any of the classes would match your particular preference. But wiki has all the info on the archetypes and classes so you can look for yourself.

My main system has been "all items go to me (the GL) and I then give them out at my own discretion". Have worked for me for years and over a dozen guilds of different sizes and hardcoreness.

I've mainly played Lineage 2, so my experience with bosses usually boils down to "big numbers go bigger", both in the zerging part of the encounter and in the gearing one (OE included). Most mechanics of L2's bosses were super basic, mainly because you'd have the potential of pvp during the encounter. I'd personally like to play a game that has that last part, but also has better pve with more mechanics. Ideally some classes would have utility abilities that let the first raid fight both the boss and the attackers at the same time, so that the pve's ...

This has been my assumption as well. Even harder bosses should be fine in a pvx situation, as long as there's a well-balanced anti-zerg mechanic related to the boss/location/mobs. Obviously there's a balancing line between an "even one person can fuck up your farm" and "a whole guild would have problems stopping you", but that's a testable line and would also depend on how far Intrepid wants to take their bosses. And there's always the instanced bosses for all those who wants to do a super duper hardcore boss.

We should just have a list of shame (node and server wide). And players have a button on their UI (in the targeted player nameplate) that just runs their name against that list. EZ In other words, CHINESE SOCIAL CREDIT

He said party duels though. 1v1 would usually be only between two people who want the same item and have both showed themselves as good pvpers in previous GvG encounters. Watching healer 1v1s was funny as hell

Nah, any and all top end (and even high end) gear can only be acquired if you have a guild. Not only because you need a party for the content, but also because there's gonna be several other parties trying to farm that content and they'll definitely fight you for it, so you might need help if you want to assure your farm. And in later updates L2 got instanced bosses that requires 36+ people to even enter the instance and those bosses had the best loot. But even this didn't change the gear distribution (at least in my ...
