Yep, I'd love that kind of map.

Btw, @Noaani I don't remember if this was discussed in one of these 12 fucking same threads, but what was the situation with consumables in AA? And with their role in the bigger economy of the game. I know that AoC's crafting and economy inspirations might be closer to EVE or SWG, but still. L2's economy was pretty much based on a consumable, so, in case Steven pushes for his own inspirations when discussing these designs, what the situation in AA was?

Gdi, I should go work as a designer in BDO I would definitely fit perfectly there, cause literally as I was reading this comment right before this paragraph I thought to myself "what if you needed a specialized weapon for hunting and huntable mobs didn't take dmg otherwise"

No shards, no megaservers. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Servers

I assumed they meant 10 active ones, so smth like NW.

At this point I think you're either an intricate bot or just a troll

Pretty sure Steven talked about exactly this in the same breath as the mention of infinite ammo.

It might just be the same case as when you said that your gameplay in an mmo can come off as that of a bot's. Maybe Veko's personality is just that close to how an AI would feel. I treated the first few threads and discussions with Veko involved as just a maybe not english native speaker who has had a singular big mmo experience and only had that as their pov. And I thought to myself "hell, that's exactly like me". But the more circular discussions there's been and the more explanations Veko has gotten about other games ...

There's no connection between different servers. You have a server and that's its own entity. That's it. No server transfers either (at least so far). So if you want to play with your friends - choose the same server.

So you literally couldn't take the "proper" lvls of grind, went back to the game when it became EVEN MORE CASUAL and then decided that NOW you loved grind? And you're now pushing grind onto other people? I suggest you draw a parallel between your own actions and the responses of others to your suggestions. You couldn't play the game because it required you to grind. So you quit it. You then came back when you found out that there's an easier way to play that didn't seem as much of a grind to you (as if.... YOU WERE ...

Nah, I was exaggerating a bit to drive the point deeper. These threads even helped Azherae's data a bit, so that's the silver lining.

If Intrepid do ever get big enough to do this kind of thing - PLEASE NO FUCKING "GAMING CHAIRS". Work with Herman Miller or smth, but no fucking gaming chairs.

I'd prefer a "craft less, but gain more xp" approach to this. Nodes and huge projects could require a ton of those basic mats that are abundant (just as neuro pointed out), but normal crafting could still require items that are waaaaaay rarer. So you literally can't just craft 1k boots in a day. And with a slow crafting system most items will be valuable, because there won't be storages full of the same items.

If you don't like general chat then just turn it off? Why do you want to take away literally the only way for people to communicate amongst each other outside of groups/guilds?

Just to clarify, BHs are flagged against PKers only, not others.

I personally expect it. They went away from the scarcity of resources in favor of "NW did it and people liked it", so I at least expect them to limit the locations of resources. It will create friction, it will create pvp, it will make people rich, it will make caravans more meaningful and useful, etc etc etc.

It's just the reality of mmos though. Especially in current times. In other words, this particular crystal ball is sold in every general store around.

$75 will get you a beta2 access. That shit is years away. If you don't have the money - don't buy it. It won't be worth it.

People will obviously do this on discord and other places. Don't think Intrepid need to provide any particular features for this, if that's what you were asking about.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-23 00:10:33
You are contradicting yourself. You say that people have many options for entertainment and then immediately say that mmos can't have the same variety of options. I want a non-p2w owpvp mmo, but outside of 2 full loot games which are also fps and isometric - there's nothing else. Well, there's NW of course, but that I do not consider opt-in pvp "owpvp". So even if AoC does lose 80+% of its release playrbase, as long as those remaining 20% stay and keep their sub (with a few cosmetics here and there) I think the game can survive just ...

I think these will be the closest thing to that. Do hope we can set up crafting there too, cause so far it doesn't seem like we can. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Player_stalls
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-23 01:21:22
I mean, repairs are already mentioned there. And I'd imagine that it's gonna be used waaaay more than crafting, considering the "dials" feature which would most likely mean that you gotta have a live crafter making your stuff. But I hope that there's some basic versions of items that you can just craft at some crafter's stall. This would also perfectly fit with my preferred crafting system of "there's several ways to craft the same thing, with each way having its own special addition". And afaik that is pretty close to what SWG had, so theoretically that's exactly what ...

Mana is not endless though? You still need to manage your use? Weird take imo.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-23 01:51:23
Dreadful. And I might've misunderstood, or maybe some other mobas don't require you to control your mana, but when I played dota2 (and it still seems to be the case, judging by the latest TI) - you had to keep an eye on your mana use at all times, cause you never knew when you might need a ton of it for the fight. Mb Iskab was talking about the overall regeneration of mana and its speed? Then yeah, older games had slower regen so you had much more time between fights with full mana. But due to my ...

Alpha will supposedly show only half of the world. Now imagine that Intrepid manage to work amazingly with their community (kinda have been doing that already), develop a great game during that alpha2 and then have some nice advertisement before the release. Don't you think that "a good game with great devs that's about to get twice as big with fresh servers" would get a shitton of people?
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-23 02:11:14
Yeah, I'm used to 1h++++ "serious" encounters, so you'd usually go through waves of Invocation uses from the mana managers and keep the last wave for the last push on the boss (cause most bosses had heightened regen at last %s of hp, as I assume most of them do in most games). Yeah, hope they showcase it this month and have some, at the very least, a semi-boss fight to show it.

This is pretty much what I interpreted the "anti-zerg hazards" to be. And iirc alpha1 twins had those crystals that burned player mana. Forget if it was just aura-based or explosion after a time or some other mechanic though.

Maybe during some event, but definitely not in normal gameplay.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-23 04:15:24
Eh, I'd rather have a multifaction pvx event where people would need to fight each other for some time (with maybe some buff as a reward for the winning side) and then all the ones who died would take the boss' side and fight the survivors as the third faction (even if the dead were enemies before this). Wouldn't really care either way if some mobs got player names/visuals.
