Combat is moving in the wrong direction

If the MC of the video was a mage, it would even be "try NOT to press the button and instead press another one", cause you gotta click on a detargeted enemy, but if you then click again too fast your character will try auto-attacking that enemy. And mages don't do shit with auto-attacks, but they completely ruin your positioning and can even delay your casts. So you can't just spam click to regain the targetting. In other words you gotta avoid pressing the button again. This also kinda applies when the dagger is getting kited by a mage. ...

Corruption: Does it / Should it Diminish While Logged Out?

No, I mean that dying a few times after 3 months of not playing is not important. Mmo always keep some way to endlessly progress. Or they at least prolong the process to its max. Any normal PKer can just go kill some mobs or have their friends kill them. 3 months does nothing for them, because it's pointless to wait 3 months just to PK some more.

Funny how Noaani addressed Mag's next comment before that comment even appeared. Just goes to show that we've been in a circle since the very start. Lineage 2 had a ton of vids even before youtube became popular, but majority of those vids have disappeared and a ton of other vids got blocked to all fuck by YT's copyright dumbness, because they all used "super cool and not at all edgy" music. Pretty much any "proper" gameplay that I'd want to show doesn't exist, just as is the case with Noaani's points. BDO just came out late enough to ...

And it would completely ruin the corruption system. No reasonable person would do it and we'd see no non-event owpvp. That's shit and exactly what I'd want to avoid.

I'm still waiting for my personal disregardment of my video by Mag I'm betting on "the clicking doesn't mean anything, the combat doesn't seem all that fast".

Corruption: Does it / Should it Diminish While Logged Out?

Why would people ever fight back if they know for sure that not doing so would mean removing that annoying attacker from the game for days? This is exactly why I want the corruption balancing to be way laxer than what it seems to be. If victims know that not fighting back is endlessly more beneficial - they'll never fight back.

Again, why would he fight back when removing the PKer completely is way more beneficial. Even if it's just few days of offline time - it's still much better than having an annoying attacker next to you. And BHs should have enough time to get to the PKer's location and try killing them. That's the fun of the suggested system. "Errands" are just there to keep the PKer playing the game instead of literally not existing in it.

It's as if you're not reading my comments. I literally want more PK in the game. Like, way more than there'll be under the currently planned balancing.

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-11 20:49:14

Alts are not mains. I mean mains. I want a ton of completely casual completely carebear players in the game. And I want a ton of PKers to exist. And I want the system to support both, all the while supporting BHs who'd be killing the reds and supporting the greens. Majority of your suggestions would just remove any and all casual/carebear players from the game.

I'd look for it, but right now I'm barely holding this page active, cause my RAM has gone completely fucked and my PC barely works. But your every other post is about how carebears are bad and shouldn't exist. And most of your suggestions are hardcore even for the hardcore players on the forum, so I'd say ~90% of your suggestions would absolutely remove all the greens from the game in one way or another.

Yeah, this is pretty much what I meant. The designs would just push people waaay beyond what most people are fine with. I think I'm somewhere in the middle, cause I'd try to push those anxiety people into being social, but I'd try to come up with a way to make that push as painless as possible.

Air Travel / Transport

I'm personally against big flying vessels at release and definitely against widespread solo flying. That kind of verticality should be added once the game can't reasonably grow wider. I could maybe agree with a singular huge airship between the two continents that operates on its own, has predisposed locations on both sides and requires 2 metros in those locations to get activated (with mayor's help too). Make it some ancient local magic to avoid the "if we have the tech, why da fuck is it only here" debacle and we're golden. Oh, and that ship should move suuuper rarely. ...

I believe that is kinda already the case. I'm talking air ships which would prevent this exact event from happening.

That scarcity is exactly the point. Anyone who truly wants to fly will bust their ass to maximize their chance to fly. And anyone who doesn't care enough will just awe in how cool the flying dudes are. Seeing a super rare flying dragon during a siege or, especially, during daily gameplay would be amazing. You'd immediately know that the owner is at the top of the game at this moment. Games need more mechanics like this. We need more wonder in mmos.

And let them do it. As you said, other nodes will already be unrelated to purely "proper" leaders. That's the entire point. We'll have variety of leaders with variety of goals. But all of them will be best at what they're doing and will be rewarded with a flying mount, as well as overall prestige and renown on the server. This is not real life. I won't care if my mayor got to their power because they wanted a flying toy or because they wanted to be a mayor for a dozen other reasons. I'll only care about what ...

I explained a bit how the fight was going down in the original post of that video. Both sides had to move in a way that would keep their backs from the enemy. And I explained that overclicking the targets would be bad too, so they had to control their actions correctly. And I also said that this was an older version of the game, with the newer having even more tools to feint and outthink your opponents. And the speed was even higher too. This was just the only fitting video I could find within reasonable time. So ...

The only thing that this would lead to is people running with just one set, which might already be the case. I'd prefer a bit higher dmg on what you're wearing rather than dmg on everything you have.

My main class had two teleports (backward and forward), with the backward tp being an aoe attack at the use location, with a stun effect, so I had to position myself correctly to hit the enemy with the aoe, while also approach at a correct angle so that when I use the skill I tp in a correct direction. And I had a fear aoe cone ability used in front of the character, so if I wanted to hit someone with it I'd need to track their movement and predict it if they were in a full run. And ...

Will there be enough node projects to spend tax on?

Dev Discussion #50 - Dungeon Delving

Killing mobs, gathering in-dungeon resources, fighting bosses, pvping people for all of those things. Story is a one-time thing, even if it's a whole series of quests. I'm thinking super long periods of time. Dungeons should be permanently important and pit people against each other.

Nah, I'm just memeing on arguments that are not even based on the full current info. But if they keep the "artisans won't always be max lvl" design, then low-mid gear will get OEd as well. Plus they've said that you'll need to disassemble some items to figure out crafting/recipes. And I think they'll add full breakage if the decaying item is not repaired in time (or just after a number of repairs). As for mounts and stuff like that, yeah, don't think we know how they'll address infinite income of those items, but I'd assume there'll be some ...

Here's a very rudimentary application of "charge up an attack" in L2. Some of this class' skills require charges (ranging in quantity). The ability that gives 1 charge takes 0.9s to cast. So in order to hit opponents with strong abilities you gotta charge up first. At 0:15 you can see the MC take 6 shots to the face while they charge up (it's the Sonic Focus (7th on the bar) in the combat log). The tradeoff for this charging system is obviously a shitton of hp on this class (and the other class that uses this mechanic). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vyp9Y6QwMbs ...

Ok, this is kinda offtopic, but I found it fucking hilarious I tried looking for the other class that uses the charge mechanics and literally the first vid I find starts with Steven getting summoned onto mobs by trolls I took a triple take and had to go look for info on where he played and this seems legit. Lionna server, White Order guild. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8job3S9SAnk At 1:33 Steven tries to kill the MC, but doesn't quite manage to do it.
