A dungeon idea

I'd probably make "marked ones" the first group to engage the boss. I'm assuming that's exactly how the looting rights will get calculated, so it makes sense to me to apply the same system to my flag-agro suggestion. Do you envision that status on the attackers going away in case the defending team wipes? Cause I see two potential outcomes from that kind of application. If the status goes away and the boss goes back to normal stats - attackers will just skillcheck the defending party until the boss wipes them. If the status doesn't go away and the ...

And if they do that, I hope you'll be there to call them out and show others that Intrepid is doing shady shit. And if you have some examples of that rn, I'll gladly join you in calling Intrepid out. But rn you seem to be creating a problem out of nothing and pushing the panic related to that problem onto others.

@Azherae Most likely just my crazy extrapolations that are based on a potentially faulty assumption about majority of players, with some general projection on top of that. It's also my L2 assumptions superimposed onto AoC's lack of info. Just as you've said before, people like to fill in the gaps in info with their own assumptions and projections, and I'm the victim of the same crime. I subconsciously thought of L2's looting method of "stuff drops on the ground and you see who picks it up", so to me it was silly to even consider the attackers PKing the ...

Do you truly believe that they wouldn't make more money if they sold their cosmetics all the time instead of during exclusive sales? Because I personally don't believe that and the only way to assume that's true is if they plan to start "reselling" them with just tiny tweaks to color or smth like that (pretty much what Bliz like to do afaik). And that's why I said what I said.

That's why Natasha said "against each other". We also don't know if they'll go purple once they do attack their war enemies. I assume they will, because this is just yet another part of the L2 system they copied. And yes, others will be able to hit you, but that's the risk you take when you flag up.

You seem way more defensive about your views than us, so-called fanbois. You came here accusing Intrepid of "trying to get as much money out of people as possible", yet your only basis for that opinion is "well, I said so, so it must be true". I've seen a ton of people ask Intrepid for separate sales of cosmetics. I've seen polls with hundreds of votes asking the same. This, to me, implies that there'd be a huge demand for cosmetic sales if they weren't tied to several hundred dollar testing keys. I've also seen people ask whether they ...

Steven and Margaret mentioned that they're filming their internal discussions and overall development process and that they have videos of them looking through feedback and different ideas. I'm quite excited to see those videos, cause we've had a ton of super varied suggestions throughout this development and I'm really curious to see what, if anything, Intrepid got out of them. And thanks for the reassurance. In the future I'll just try to think the ideas through more before posting them

Yes, Arya, I saw your shotgun shot of ideas that range from "eh that maybe could work with a few changes" to "that is the exact insane shit that I tried calling out before". You know my stance, I want to increase the amount of PKing, while decreasing the impact of corruption, WHILE keeping the life of greens at a normal lvl instead of hell. Getting corruption for pve could be an interesting idea if Intrepid decided to link corruption to the mobs directly. I think I did post this idea somewhere on here, but I'd love if mob ...

Worries about mayoral system being monthly and singular

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-17 01:37:05

That sounds like the shittiest rmt deal I've ever heard. Spend literal months leveling up your character, working on deep socialization or on making a shitton of money or just a month-straight grind of quests - all to sell your acc for pittance, because the mayorship is only a month-long thing so no reasonable person would pay good money for that. Literally any other rmt method would be way more profitable and would also be repeatable. This is a very weak argument against the system.

Yeah, the tower felt quite small for its apparent size. I didn't really pay enough attention to it before, but I checked older videos of other dungeons and I definitely feel like like the overall size of rooms and heights of ceilings seem to be waaaay too damn big for their own good. Open world dungeons require real in-game space, so it feels kinda counterproductive to make them huge in size but small in content amount. And first floor of the tower looked like a single room. The page you linked says that second floor has a few offices ...

A dungeon idea

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-17 19:32:34

My main worry would come from the amount of such dungeons. If there's enough of them to have 3-4 groups per each dungeon - yeah, this would be roughly the same as L2 in terms of pvp inclination and potential (relatively speaking). But if we'll have hundreds of people aiming to farm a dungeon like Carphin seems to be - that would be even harsher than what L2 had with most of its dungeons. L2 had two tower dungeons at 40-55 lvl range and 49-76 one, 3 and 12 (14) floors respectively. The first dungeon could house ~16 parties ...

Yeah, I get that and I definitely get the appeal of the cool large spaces and their vibes. I just hope they'll balance it out in the context of their own planned systems. I believe they can cause they haven't shown any real indication of inability to do so, but the worry is still there

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-17 19:50:58

If this will be the case, my worries will go away. Yeah, that "grind" part is mostly where my assumptions come from. But we've discussed how I see the pvp system working with the mob/dungeon design before, so I won't go into my concerns on that front again.

A dungeon idea

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-17 20:37:21

Yeah, that first one will definitely be difficult to drop purely because I do that in pretty much all the games I play, even if it's not necessarily optimal. I think that's just the result of my personality and gaming experience. I find it difficult to warp my head around a game that doesn't support grind. Ashes promises a ton of varying content so I do think that I'll be able to grind it for hours, but I think you're definitely right on the dungeon part of the grind. Their current design and communication definitely points towards a non-grindable ...

Corruption: Does it / Should it Diminish While Logged Out?

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-17 21:41:51

Depends on what you're talking about. As soon as you kill another player you better not die, because there's already an x4 multiplier on your death penalties. That part is binary. BHs seeing you on the map and your stats dampening seem to be on a spectrum and depend on how much corruption you have. So not so binary.

I mean, Carphin is a tower with a surrounding area. Iirc the wyrm dungeon just had a small (relatively) hole in the ground as an entrance. On top of that, the catacombs Azherae mentioned could start in the nodes themselves and be as deep as Intrepid wants them to be. Hell, I'd fucking love that. All they'd need to do is extrapolate on the idea of mega-catacomb under the Divine metro https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Divine_nodes In other words, it wouldn't be 80% of the world, but it would definitely be 80% of the underground, with the remaining 20 being the underworld (probably ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-18 04:11:50

What's your opinion on the title's mechanic, both in terms of a healer ability and as a theoretical item that you could use to res someone in combat. In the next dev q&a thread I'm gonna be asking whether we'll have an item that lets us resurrect other players, but before that I wanted to see what was the general opinion on this particular interaction of resurrection. I would personally prefer if we did have such an item and that we could res in combat. This would help with any potential player attacks during your pve and would also ...

Not sure what those are I'm assuming smth like "if you were supposed to die you stay at 1hp instead?" And if that's correct then are we talking about a pre-death buff or just a normal passive on all archetypes? Outside of that response, I guess I'm in, like, the super minority when it comes to this mechanic. Didn't really think I would be but it is what it is. I only now checked whether this topic has been brought up in the past (shoulda fucking done this before posting) and the general consensus of that thread was "have ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-18 17:20:16

Hmm, wouldn't the death penalty serve as that in Ashes? I'd prefer if cleric rez would remove 50% of the death penalty, while any rez item would just get you back on your feet but w/o removing the penalty. I could definitely get behind the idea of repeated death reducing your stats even lower, cause that's how L2 worked as well.

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-18 18:33:45

My main goal with this post was just to see what people thought of combat rez, cause I think I've heard that wow didn't allow for it (or at least was very limited) and L2 not only let you rez single person but LITERALLY YOUR ENTIRE CLAN. And it also had not only an item that had slow cast for the rez (but really cheap price), but also a super quick cast one, but it was way more rare so the cost was way higher as well. So based on those two things I wanted to see what the ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-18 18:39:05

Oh, and I forgot to mention. That L2 death penalty had some chance to appear (wasn't 100%) on any death. And you had to buy an item of the proper grade to remove it. So it wasn't directly linked to rezing mechanics. And unless you ran out of items, it wouldn't matter all that much because you'd ever be at lvl2-3 max.

I mean, that predictability would provide a player funnel to pit them against each other on that desirable content, which imo is kind of the point of a pvx dungeon. This is also why I added the "mobs get stronger after a respawn and you also get a boss later on", so that people could in fact just sit in one place and farm rather than wasting 1h running around semi-empty hallways filled with useless trash mobs.

Unique servers storyline question.

It's just about a variety of choices and slight differences in content those changes might provide. Players on different servers might make different choices throughout the server's history, which will lead to different outcomes. That's it.

They will just play the game how they want. And it's gonna be on Intrepid to account for any possible decisions. Or at least point players to some of them.

I'd hope chars are server-based and not account-based. Considering that we can't move our chars between servers I see no point in having account-based char limits.

A dungeon idea

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-20 21:32:42

This is mainly yet again my assumptions about how loot will work, considering the "not everyone wins" and the current loot rights designs. And in the context of even smaller dungeons than what I was imagining, what I'm seeing might be an even bigger pvp contest than what we had in L2. Say there's 5 mob spawns in a dungeon. Each spawn can be taken up by a group of players. Let's say that the whole dungeon drops a single set of items (that would be shit imo, but that's beside the point for now). Now, my assumption for ...
