Unique servers storyline question.

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-20 21:35:59

Different node lvls will have different steps of story arcs, so you'll need to travel around and experience different stuff that matches your lvl. Or at least that's how I see it going down. This is not a super linear game, so you'll most likely miss out on some story arcs, even if they'll come back in rotation later on.

Office Hours: Dungeon Discussion - Thursday, April 20, 2023 at 4PM PT

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-20 22:05:00

I haven't touched office hours before, so this might be a silly question. Can we just listen in on the discussion or do we have to talk if we join in?

A dungeon idea

Yeah, the boss would definitely have a higher chance, but chances are just that - chances. You could still drop quite a few valuable things even before the boss. If it was me making it, I'd probably have it at 50/50 (mobs/boss) overall drop rates. But as I said, I'd just go for open rooms so a 50/50 distribution would, theoretically, keep the dangers of pvp equal across the entire cycle. If the mini-boss gets locked out, pvp during the fight is impossible so pve is harder which would make it reasonable to increase drop rates for the boss. ...

Will we have items that let us resurrect other players?

If someone is willing to spend additional $15 just to drag a whole another game window with them in case they somewhere somewhen need a rez - I'm sure they'd just level up a cleric and be done with it. Scroll doesn't influence this decision at all.

A dungeon idea

If they go with what was described during their d&d gameplay, then kinda no. There's gonna be just a few tiny rooms on the second floor and maaaybe a few spaces on the 3rd. This will be nowhere close to Cruma's size or farm party amount.

Question towards devs

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-22 15:26:43

The developers believe that inspecting gear to obtain an exact equipment list or gear score may lead to "unwelcome behavior".[8] https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Threat_assessment#Gear_sets That's the current stance on inspecting someone else's gear. And with their stance of "no addons", I doubt they'll release any api (or whatever it's called) that would let 3rd party sites to get that information. I'm sure people will find a way to extract that info or at the very least speculate on it, but it won't be easy and might be a potential ban offense. As for achievements, some will be visually obvious and some be ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-22 16:07:32

I've mainly only played on private servers so this was a f2p action. If the same was done during the subbed times of L2 - I'd be fine with it, cause, again, that person/party spend additional $15 just to rez themselves. Also, as I've said in the OP - I love longer pvp and I want not only combat rez, but also scrolls that let anyone rez anyone. That PP that rezzed the party? Just a +1 to my pvp counter. And if it waited till the party unflagged - that means my party has won completely, so now ...

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-22 16:32:54

Then, just as I said, that's just +1 to my pvp counter. If they're rezzing flagged people - they're flagged. If they're just alts - they have shit gear. All I need to do is hit them once or twice and they're dead. Also, alttabbing to your second window will take time. Even if it's just a second or two, that's quite a long time during a fight. And cast of a rez should be long enough for you to react to it in pvp and be ready to immediately drop the rezzed char. We called that "nevalyashka" in ...

Being able to just target rez allows healers to sell their services around hardcore pve, or just even helping out fellow nodemates when needed. I get why you'd want it to be limited and I might even agree, just because it covers a ton of potential abuses/exploits, but I've been that "savior" a ton of times and it always felt good to help someone out. Alternatively the rez items (if we get any) could be really expensive, but could target anyone, so it'd be either a direct trade or a negative one for both sides (cause I'd prefer if ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-23 05:13:07

But that's just in the context of party/raid play, not solo randoms. I was talking about a healer just walking around minding their own business and then seeing a dead player asking for a rez. We don't know how well the respawn locations will be placed, so there's a chance that you'd have to run for 5-10 minutes till you can get back to your original spot. And while I'm all about hardcoreness and gameplay hardship, this is one of the only things I agree with Asmon on. Running back for too long is bad design. Imo this can ...

Resurrection in combat

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-23 14:50:44

Are we talking solo pvp or party? Cause if I'm the only one left with 10% hp, while the enemy has a rez bot - my party has already lost. Though you said previously that you're talking about rezzing right after someone dies, so I don't think I'd be at 10%, cause my healer would be working. Either way, this whole comment is countered by "rez cast time is 10s". Yes, ttk is supposed to be 30s, but I'd assume that it's not an 8v1 ttk. My party just needs to all assist a kill and the rez char ...

The steamrollers would usually be the ones hardcore enough to even try getting rez alts. And that would be exactly why they're the steamrollers. Not just because they p2w, but because they work harder than anyone else. If I start a group pvp with my 8 players/chars against their 9+ players/chars - I'm already at a disadvantage, even if their 9th is not a healer. And if their alt is even semi-well-geared - the enemy is already higher in power, because they're higher in investment. Just as Noaani said, that group might've as well had an extra player helping ...

Request for Implementation of Regional Pricing for Ashes of creation in Developing Countries.( MENA)

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-23 16:05:43

https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Payment_model There will be no region locking, but certain regions will have "harmonized" subscription prices that better reflect their local economies. Harmonized regions will be segregated from other regions.[5][6]

Intrepid is currently a self-publishing indie company. They don't have endless money to buy up servers on all continents/regions. But I'd assume that if they see enough demand for the game in those regions, they might support at least a few servers there.

Druids?

Sometimes it's better to just necro a post than making a whole damn new one. Especially if you only have smth to add to the already preestablished conversation.

When People Say They Want Player Driven Content, What Do They Mean?

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-25 20:10:01

How I understand it - yes. It's the guild drama (both internal and between guilds), it's big sieges and any potential politics linked to them, it's sudden shifts in power (usually falls under guild drama, but could be just a new guild coming to the server) and to me some big scale market manipulations are also "player-driven content". I remember server "histories" like this: Guild X dominated the first few weeks because they grinded like hell Guild Y and Z teamed up right before the siege to stop Guild X from getting a valuable castle Y/Z alliance managed to ...

Hard-Core Solo players risk vs reward.

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-26 15:31:23

The difference there is "explore =/= get cool rewards". You're always free to explore all you want, but don't expect handouts from the game for participating in content meant for big groups as a solo player. Just as it's silly to expect a soloable experience in smth like LoL or Dota2, it's silly to expect the same lvl of rewards for soloing an mmo as a party/raid would get.

Thank you

Even just so far this has been the best showcase to date. You've applied pretty much all the feedback we've given over the past few months. This is the exact reason why I'm still following this game. All the effects and visuals and mechanics are great and all, but you listening to feedback and applying it to this extent is what puts you waaaay above majority of other companies. Thank you, Intrepid.

[Feedback Request] Alpha Two Mage Updates Shown in the April Livestream

This was incredible. Effects look great, I love the mechanics and combos. The showcase itself was incredible and all the feedback implemented is HIGHLY appreciated. And I love the full-semi root on quite a few abilities. Gives a bit of a balance to the archetype.

Thank you

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 19:14:30

Did we just get a new augment example? If that was indeed a true example THEN WE'VE GOTTEN EVEN MORE FEEDBACK LISTENED TO I'm talking about the arcane arrows going around shit.

mage looks terrible -_- ill just leave this here, discuss

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 19:19:40

And as a counter point, I don't want zoomer BDO speeds of everyone just fucking dashing around at the speed of sound across my screen during anything over 5x5 pvp. Slow mages = great mass pvp. And that is why I loved this showcase.

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 19:39:10

If there's 2-3 out of 8 archetypes that do that - that's fine, because Intrepid can use that for balance and a fighter moving faster than a mage makes sense to me. So I'm fine with that rn. If anything, the current mage speed makes me more hopeful, because they're fine with having slower archetypes. Could you extrapolate on your points? How could it be better? What could Intrepid do to make it better? Complaint-like feedback is great and all, but we should do better. Especially considering how well Intrepid applies our feedback (as showed in this stream). I've ...

Any adventuring experience gain removes corruption - Thoughts?

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 21:14:15

As long as the majority of npcs are in the center of nodes rather than in the middle of bumfuck nowhere - I'm all for this. Any XP we gain adds to the Node's XP and prevents its decay. So, in a way, a PKer who's removing their corruption by XP gaining is helping out whichever node they're in. This could also be additionally balanced by changing values of corruption removal within different nodes (mainly "victim's node removes more"). The biggest abuse I could see with this is doing artisan stuff within your freehold's buildings. If people can just ...

Visual Style in Regards to Creature Design

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 21:20:54

For me a single lore line of "some animals are Verran, while others come from Sanctus", with the former being the fantasy and latter being normal, would be completely enough to suspend my disbelief. When the cataclysm was happening people just ran through the portals w/o grabbing any animals, so the ones who survived morphed into different fantasy shit (or maybe even was that way from the start). And sanctus had "earth" animals, which we then bring with us through the portals because we got 0 clue about the current state of fauna on Verra.

The mage has clean animations. The other classes have visual clutter

Post by Ludullu on 2023-04-28 22:52:53

Like they said on the stream, these were second passes already. Which is why they looked cleaner. If anything, I'd say this was an indicator of the potential look of all the other abilities. They'll have less clutter, smaller vfx and will just overall look cleaner. And I'm sure they can polish them even better later on, on top of any options that we'll have when it comes to vfx scaling and all that.
