Because I want to have a tool that I can use to improve my own gameplay w/o sacrificing my privacy in any given party event. In L2 it was just my chat, because L2 logged all your actions in the game and you could look through them after the encounter. If Ashes will have the same feature, I'd personally be fine there. But my other reason for trying to find a middle ground is because I want as many people to enjoy the game as possible, because I want the game to succeed to its max potential. I want ...

That's up to Intrepid to decide. I saw it as a collection of several metrics like gear scores of members, levels of members, amount of members, previous achievements, social org positions of members. Shit like that. And combination of all of those things would indicate how much "score" a guild has, cause all those things combined show how much time the guild as a whole has put into the game.

And if it's there then any party can ask for screenshots from it, if they're dicks enough to do so. So this wouldn't be any different from you getting a recording of your log as a text file. And the boss telling you what he did or what was done to him wouldn't be any different from you just recording your screen during the fight. And this is why I suggested the thing I suggested. The amount of information available to you would not change in the slightest. The amount of information you retrieve from all that stuff would ...

Yeah, I saw it as a "score is tracked at a peak and stays there for, say, a week".

Oh, quite easily. Especially if they have the skill for it. I've seen small super strong guilds in L2 clear fucking hundreds of people. So it's definitely possible. But it will all depend on how Intrepid design their classes and anti-zerg mechanics and gear scaling and a ton of other details.

Either way, we know this, so people will be running around in lavish-looking clothes from lvl1.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-07 20:26:30
I'd assume so, considering that being in a guild is not an account-wide thing currently.

I mean, I'd personally hope that in-game combat log has time stamps (or any chat window for that matter), so it wouldn't even have to be pages and pages. The party/raid leader would just say "give me a screenshot of your combat log from this time" and that'd be that. And as Noaani told you several times, dps meters are not just about how much dps you're doing at any particular moment. If a particular boss mechanic required a particular ability usage from some class in the raid, the raid leader could then ask players of that class to ...

And it's the shittiest way to measure any guild's "power". Your current guild is in the trash stat-wise? Literally disband, make a new one with the same people and you'll have a clean slate. Works the same for the other side, if they want to bring their dec costs down.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-07 21:02:15
Yes, that's true, but that depends on their goals and the difficulty of reacquiring some of the benefits. If some guild are just mercs that only need their guild perks and a low "score" so that it's easier for them to dec someone, they might disband every so often to keep that score low. And if it's a huge guild that's all about their reputation on the server and their accolades speaking for them - obviously they wouldn't disband at all, but then I'd assume they wouldn't really care about the price of decs, because they'd only dec when ...

Which is literally why I suggested what I suggested. My suggested "dps meter" wouldn't tell the raid leader who did what, it would be completely anonymous. Hell, a video recording of the fight would tell more about who did what than the combat log I suggest. So you literally fucking agree with me. I just want the in-game combat log to give us all the things that we do (or are done to us) and to be able to save that in text form if I ever want to go through it (the same as I would do to ...

What Azherae said plus the fact that all locations in the game will start from the lowest lvl of mobs/bosses. So that 10k people will have a place to go farm, they'll just need to move a bit further away from the spawn portals. Obviously different people will have different amounts of time they can play, so anyone who has a ton of time will be leveling up both themselves and their nodes. And they'll have high lvl content in those nodes. This will most likely be a fairly limited amount of people (cause leveling will take a long ...

That kinda sounds just like a customizable UI on a wide monitor, but with extra steps. Especially if ultra wide monitors will give you a bigger fov than a standard one in Ashes. Cause at that point you're "cheating", so all that extra space could be just taken up by UI elements.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-08 00:51:24
So yeah, like I said, extra steps. If ultrawides already give you more fov, than this kind of feature would just bring you back to a "fair" setup.

Except that's literally how Intrepid want their GWs. They don't want an endless war, which is why they decided to have a goal-based version of this feature. Pretty sure it's always been this way.

This sounds more like an OSRS issue rather than just a bot one. L2 had click to move and stationary combat and even there you could distinguish a bot from a human quite easily, unless a human was specifically trying to look like a bot. Ashes combat seems to be way more complex, so it's gonna be even harder to make a human-like bot that's gonna be indistinguishable from a live player.

Well then I suggest not playing Ashes at all because it'll be completely bot-ridden. And if a lot of people don't play because of that (and I suggest they do exactly that), then it's gonna be more space for bots like me

So you have no hill to die on. You're not truly against RMT. You're just part of the problem of "no one cares enough to show the dev studios that if they don't take it seriously - no one will play their game". So this whole thread was a waste of time. But what else is new.

It still takes the devs/GMs banning those bots, even in pvp games. L2 had a shitton of them even though PKing there was usually a not so scary thing (especially when PKing a bot). But when those bots can always just come back, there's just not enough people willing to constantly monitor their farming locations to always kill them.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-08 22:22:28
Earlier updates had a way to make those bots potentially drop gear (by making mobs kill them), but overall yeah, a normal death at the hands of a PKer didn't really do anything to the bot. Ashes will definitely have a bigger impact there. I think a lot will depend on how resource distribution will work in Ashes. We know that pretty much all tiers of anything will be valuable to at least some extent. So in theory the bot could be hidden in some godforsaken part of the world just grinding some sticks and stones, but due to ...

Yeah, node wars are definitely the spooky side of this. I love it, but it has a huge potential to push away a lot of people.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-09 21:26:26
I'd assume that for the node wars the citizens of either side are just autoflagged against each other (probably through an icon above their heads or smth like that). And for sieges, I think the node's ZOI would become an autoflag zone for anyone who registered. And in theory Intrepid could limit non-registered people from entering the zone until the siege is over.

Agree with what Nerror said. But also, you'll still be able to build up a node from 0 to 6, it'll just take more work. The world is supposed to be ever-changing and not just on a first come first serve basis. Metropoli will fall sooner or later and some 5lvl node will be able to rise up. And if you play hard and smart enough, you might even be able to raise a lvl1 node to lvl6 through political intrigue and hardcore pvp.

Definitely gonna have at least a few servers that'll be quite stagnant. You'd have to reaaaally push hundreds of people to destroy a metro and I'm sure that there'll only be a few people out there ready for, and willing to do, that kind of task.

The game won't be awarding participants, only the winners. So if you don't like that, guess the game might not fit your preferences.

Game is balanced around party play. The RPS system will be responsible for around 30% of the single player power. Balancing all the classes with all the possible augments in Ashes perfectly is almost impossible, so if you want a game where everyone can kill everyone, I'm not sure if this is the game for you. Also, Ashes will definitely not overtake WoW. It'll be much better for some people (definitely me), but it will not appeal to the absolute masses of mmo players. So definitely curb your expectations.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-08-10 19:00:28
L2 was one of the best pvp mmos out there (best imo). It was balanced around party play (9-man btw). Classes had an RPS balancing, with some of them being quite OP at times. It worked out just fine.

Most parties were usually dagger/mage (with a few variations of mages)/archer/fighters. In the context of somewhat equal gear, any party could usually kill any other party. Most of the time it came down to party skill and cooperation. In 1v1 pvp, daggers would usually kill mages, mages would usually kill fighters, fighters would usually kill daggers, with archers probably being the most rng ones cause they had huge crits and if you got a few of them in a row then you'd usually win (or if your stun landed) but if you didn't get lucky - you'd quite often ...
