Again, because you seem to either miss this point or I dunno why you're ignoring it, the system was exactly the same in L2 except for the stat dampen. L2's "greens" could also attack reds w/o flagging. And most of the time they did, because it was the punishment for that player going red. The "villagers" were the executioners of the village murderer. They didn't care that he could fight back and no one cared that "a villager was killing a villager", because their target was a murderer. And if that target did fight back - everyone would be ...

@George_Black @tautau @JamesSunderland I forget, did pvp flag decrease the xp loss? I'm pretty sure it was lower during sieges, but don't remember if the plain purple flag did as well. And google doesn't helps because any real info on that has died over a decade ago. edit: Ah, I think this works. Death penalties were the same for flagged people https://legacy-lineage2.com/guide/guides_pvp1.html So realistically, the situation of a green attacking a red in Ashes will be even rarer than in L2, because most greens would think thrice before risking their loot against an aggressive player. Or they'd just attack ...

It is made to make pvp fun. Except killing non-combatants is not pvp. And the corruption system is there to prevent the killing of non-combatants as much as possible. And you, as a red, gaining more corruption for killing more greens plays a fairly big role in that prevention.

Even if they do, literally any self-respecting strong guild will be trying to kill the boss as soon as possible, so you might not even feel the effects, unless they appear before the boss respawns. As they should. This game is not made for solo players. A lot of the content will be party-based, classes will be balanced for party play, looting rights are determined by dmg done so any solo player will always lose to parties. You want to participate in big content? Join a guild. Socialize.

And if they do decide to do this, they better never tell us about it, because people will just minmax the hell out of it.

I think smth like a healer/healer top lvl augment that does a mass heal/res when the healer dies could be nice. While a healer/summoner could have an augment that sacrifices pet/summon and leaves the healer at 1hp when he was meant to die or, alternatively, has the same effect as the previous augment but the pet/summon dies instead. Have something similar for all top lvl class augments and you'll have yourself a situational burst heal right before or as the healer dies.

It didn't change though. Greens still have the regular penalties, so it's literally the same as L2. The only thing that changed is that in pvp situations the greens are encouraged to fight back, so that they lose less, because pvp is rewarded. Which would also lead to less reds in the world, which is the goal of the corruption system overall. And a fight against a red is not pvp. It was that way in L2 it is that way in Ashes and I like it that way. The greens might not attack them to not risk their ...

Looking at the system as a whole is the whole point. Greens not flagging up against reds and reds gaining more corruption for greens makes the system work as intended. So for the hundredth time in this thread, yes, I like this system exactly as it is right now and don't want it to change. Nor do I want any of its parts to change.

1. Ashes will have an rps system so 1v1 classes will stay balanced. 2. There'll be multiple ladders in multiple different parts of the game and the whole game is built upon the concept of competition of scarce resources. 3. It's an mmo, it always has a ton of those. 4. This would have to be talked about after the release, but so far free presents are not really intended as part of the design, because they work against the scarcity of resources.

And how would you help BHs do their job at all? If any green can flag up against a red that would mean that they lose less stuff w/o being flagged against everyone else, so a lot of greens will hunt red even more. All of that would lead to BHs never even coming close to reds because all of them would be killed by greens. Also, as have been said before, a high lvl red can just annihilate countless lowbies w/o ever gaining more corruption because it'd take a single attack from the lowbie for the red to ...

How different would a huge guild be from a huge streamer? Or do you intend on somehow avoiding any and all servers that will have big guilds on them too?
Post by Ludullu on 2022-09-05 18:50:23
If that was the case, your "issues" wouldn't even fucking apply, because those who want to flag up against reds can already do so by choosing BH as one of their social organizations. But no, anyone cannot in fact just become a BH out of nowhere. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Bounty_hunters So you're not only suggesting to change the corruption system, but pretty much completely make the BH system pointless because everyone would just punish reds instead of only those who really want to help people out in their node. In a way you're literally making red's lives harder with this suggestion. I'm ...

That's the main contradiction for me though. If tracker is not impactful why have it? And if it is impactful then why not design fights where you don't need it. Noaani says that devs can't make a truly difficult piece of content w/o accounting for players using trackers. That leads me to believe that trackers are wildly impactful on the content and its potential difficulty.

I've seen all the things you've described done by a single guild in L2. Literally a huge crowd of people doing the same quests/mobs/locations to optimize their gameplay. And from what I've heard there's some huge alliances of thousands of people out there. And from the pov of a single player, a group of even 100 people running around together, because they're a well-cooperated bunch, would be no different from a streamer and his posse existing on a server. Except the streamer would most likely got no clue what he's doing or where he's going, while the guild would ...

Ah, so you literally admit that your whole damn "issue" is nonexistent because the greens would never attack reds. The pvpers would most likely either be BHs already and would easily flag against reds or they'd be just flagged through other means and wouldn't be fighting a red as a green. You whole assumption stands on the shakiest of legs because the game is balanced around party play with all the other content most likely being taken up by pvers and carebears, so even if some reds do go out and find some straggling solo players to snipe - ...

I mean, if I was a sweaty GL, I'd go to a streamer server just to be the opposition to all of his useless followers, because they're always just dudes who play for fun (with maaaybe a few % who might be grinding hardcore). As long as the game allows for a smaller group to at least be on par with a zerg - guilds will be able to oppose the streamer followers. But yes, as I've said, when the streamer leaves the game the server will definitely feel an impact, which is why I definitely agree with the ...

Have you read this page? https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Bounty_hunters BHs flag themselves up against reds. You don't need a 3rd person. And from what they've said, it seems that BHs are flagged only against Reds (just as your suggestion of greens being flagged like that), so there won't be any green benefit to it, because they'll be green to anyone else while purple for the red. So as I said, any pvper who, for some reason, is not running around with a party will probably be a BH, because it'd be beneficial for them (both the social organization rewards and the red ...

A pvper would be pvping. Be it in pvp events or at farming locations. Because those would be the main forms of gameplay for a pvper. So if a red somehow enters a farming location where pvpers hang out, there's a higher chance that a pvper would already be flagged or could easily flag himself against someone near them if for whatever reason they didn't want to risk their loot. Though again, most farming locations will be party-based so if they see a PKer - he ded. If you're planning on killing reds there's 0 reason to stay green. ...

Imo, if the circle of "who's stronger" is closed - the game is balanced. It would be unbalanced if there was one super OP class that destroys all the others w/o competition.

I think he meant overall ability to do that content. Being severely red will dampen your pvp stats, while your pve ones won't be touched. I think that's what Neurath was talking about.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-09-05 23:33:18
PvE includes mobs. And you can't say "pvx stats" when corruption dampens only the pvp part, which means that there is a separation between the two in the system. I got no idea how exactly it's supposed to work, but that's what they've said. " The more skill and stat dampening applies (lower health and mana, lower gear proficiency), until the corrupt player ultimately becomes ineffective at combat.[8][17][18] This dampening only affects PvP combat.[19] "

I guess that could work. These two things seem to contradict each other though. You either have a fully random spawner with short notice so that more guilds have higher chances to be the ones to get the boss, or you have a longer notice and have the big guild always win because they can dominate anyone smaller w/o too many problems. I could maybe see a 2 boss setup, where, out of potential 12 bosses, half would spawn on the eastern continent and half on the western. And we apply your suggestion of random spawn but to both ...

It's about risk and reward. A red drops a ton of stuff (potentially) so fighting him should have higher risks involved. If a normal purple attacks the red - he's already flagged so he's at constant risk of being killed by others around him (mainly Red's friends, if there are any around). And the red himself will immediately attack the purple in order to prevent his own death penalties, cause it'd be logical to assume that the purple would be completely fine with attacking the red. If BH attacks the red or just even runs towards him (assuming the ...

Being reasonable doesn't mean that you can win against all. But being purple is almost as big of a "hit me" sign as being red. Though again, this whole discussion stands on the assumption that you'll be in a solo location where only one green might attack you. To me, as someone who has played with this system for years, that's almost an impossibility. The only situations where I could see that happening is the player becoming red on a completely random green for no real reason, or if the game is so dead that a location with valuable ...

In the way of breaking the rule, yes. At its core they're just speeding up the process of them recording a video from all pov of the raid and compiling the combat logs from the same people. But because that's being done by a 3rd party tool - it's against the rules and they'll be cheating. But as Noaani has said countless times, they don't give a fuck about that
Post by Ludullu on 2022-09-06 17:39:05
I think the issue in this discussion is the lost sense of scale of the "risk". On land any green player has some arbitrary chance of getting attacked and/or killed by another player. The chance to get attacked is really high, due to resource scarcity and mats dropping on death. The chance to die is much lower, due to the high potential penalties related to being Red. And depending on the activity the green player is participating in currently, he has to weigh his chances to die, because farming some common trees will probably not lead to your death ...

Eh, I gave tautau the benefit of the doubt and read that in a different light. As in: A death removes 600 corruption. A mob of your own lvl removes 10 corruption and you can kill one mob a minute What tautau didn't say is how much corruption you'd get from just one kill within your first few PKs. It could be 30-40 corruption and it would fit what I was suggesting. Or it could be 700 corruption and killing mobs would be pretty much an invalid way of cleansing yourself. At which point, I believe, most people would ...

I definitely hope open seas are just the same as land except with permaflag. So the regular flagged death penalties would apply. And this is why I need to hear from Intrepid about the reasons for the heightened risk. Maybe the fish you can catch there is insanely valuable. Maybe the sea mobs give some amazing loot. Maybe the deep sea critters are also valuable (if we can reach the sea floor on our water mounts). Maybe the npcs and/or quests that we have there are super valuable and dying while doing the quest could reset it, which would ...

There's always a bigger fish. At least I hope there'll be, especially considering the RPS balancing (that is if we're talking 1v1 matchups instead of proper party content that Ashes is designed around). But even outside of that. You're thinking about this in the context of a stationary situation. You only have a set amount of things and, if you were to die as green or purple, you'd only lose a part of said things. I expect the open seas to give us a reason to stay in the zone for longer, which will bring more potential deaths with ...

Pvp tourneys mainly. NPC having higher prices. Some sort of small debuff to stats (mainly running/atk speed/evasion). Mobs dropping fewer certificates for some period of time. Would probably depend on the event and the potential results of it. If the even is just some boss attacking the node - definitely requires direct participation. If the event is maybe smth tied to weather and/or just takes a few days to finish - I'd assume there'll be a scale of rewards and everyone would receive them in case of a successful end to the event.
