A big dome that dpsed anyone inside for a lot. Or the same dome but from a bard, which removed 12 super strong buffs from anyone who even stepped into the dome once. Or huge debuffs from mages that made the victim die within seconds. And overall, when you have hundreds vs hundreds in pvp and each "unit" is a party instead of a singular person - you gotta have big rezzes.

I'm fairly sure we've just not seen all the branches of those trees.

But you'd keep using the tracker even if it was in the tos, right? Because the tracker is untraceable and there'd be no way for Intrepid to enforce the tos.

I mean, this whole situation is solved by the simplest and smallest amount of conversation/sociability. You just tell the random dude "we can only pick you up for an hour, u good with that?" That's it. But if you don't tell that rando that he'll be replaced in an hour, imo, you a dick. Neither lfg nor the family summon has any influence on that.

Learn all skills through books/scrolls. Some of those are sold by specialized npcs in specialized nodes of particular lvls (or just maxed ones). Upgrade skills on the fly, so when you get skill points, you can go deep into a skill instead of learning another one. And going deep shows your proficiency so it doesn't need a master to teach you. All augment schools should be learned through quests. And as a total weeb point that might not work out in a real game situation - hidden skills that can only be acquired through some in-game achievements/actions or through ...

Eh, everyone here is biased to all hell. You just disagree with Noaani's bias too much to take him seriously. His push for tracker is the same as my push for low-time corruption will be. Except he's pushing it now because there's still time before Intrepid say the final word on their pve approach.

Big intricate rooms with narrow corridors in-between. Big room allows for big pvps, while narrow corridors allow for chokepoint defenses.

I love me some achievements and most of the time, at this point, I play games just to get the achievements. Would definitely like to have a ton of them.

No instances! This would be an amazing layout for an open world dungeon. Perfect even. A ton of rooms for a ton of parties to farm mobs in. Several hidden bosses in deep rooms and a huge potential for different triggers between rooms, so that you could keep the "difficulty increases with better clears" design direction. And I'm pretty sure that Steven wants something very similar because L2's dungeons looked soooomewhat like this, with just fewer rooms.

Scientific node can be won by a single big guild. Divine nodes can be won by the hardcorest player from that same guild, with the help of the guild. Military nodes can be won by the hardcorest pvpers from that same guild w/o even the help of the guild (depending on the design of the election process). Economic nodes can be won by that same guild pooling all their money into one person. In other words, the top guild on the server has the potential of ruling 4 metropoli out of 5, and that's if there's 2 scientific ones, ...

All it would take to "control" that military node is to invite the literally best pvper around to your guild and promise him some juicy stuff. PvPers usually care about good gear to have even better pvp, so the top guild inviting you to their ranks and promising you stuff just for your mayoral benefits seems like a nice trade to me. The node wins out because the guild would just tell the pvper what to do as a mayor, while the pvper wins out because he's now in the top guild with great gear.

All pvp players are already attracted by default. Now Intrepid gotta attract the pvers.

L2 had towers, horizontal rooms that were hanging in the air, huge maze-like buildings too. Can't see why Ashes wouldn't have a variety like that.

Instances will be one-time things and comprise only 20% of the overall dungeon amount. I'd rather see that kind of dungeon design as a huge open world thing rather than a one-time thing with no good gear and no pvp interaction.

https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Instancing A lot of content doesn't mean a lot of dungeons. And considering how they've described their dungeon design, there'll probably be a fairly limited amount of dungeons that will just grow in size with their nodes. Even if there's 30 dungeons overall, 6 of them will be a one-time thing related to the story, while everything else will be repeatable/grindable stuff with bosses either throughout the dungeon or at the end of it. As the link states, no repeatable content, mostly story related and some gear but no BiS. There's a chance they'll have a few repeatable "once ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-09-10 15:28:23
And as long as all those are I'd be fine with them. Well, obviously arena is a repeatable thing, but I don't see those as instanced content, even if they technically are. And as for race story-based instances, I'm not sure if we've seen any indication that each race will have a story separate enough to warrant a whole instance encounter. Yes, there'll be class (and maybe race) story quests, but we don't know if that's the "story" of the game. How can that location be "private" if others can enter it? L2 had such dungeons but literally no ...

Let's test it first and see how bad the planned system is, if bad at all.

We already have an Eggs literally drop from bosses. Except instead of a joint that gets passed around, it's a super prestige item for the chosen ones. And if you want to see the world from above, tautau said one way and the other one is literally climbing a mountain and using a gliding mount to jump off the peak. Half the map is littered with mountainous regions. In other words, go jump off a cliff.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-09-10 16:07:20
That's a good idea though. Have a node building that's either a huge tower or some sort of "cannon" that launches you into the air where you can then summon your mount (or it launches you on the mount).

We got no clue. Intrepid hasn't given any real info on the artisan system.

Lineage 2's click to move, stand in place to attack, no gcd, animation-based combat. I like the visual progress of the combat's speed. Animation speed was dependent on atk/cast speed, so your whole combat would become faster the higher in lvls you went. It felt like a true progress of your character. Tab targeting allowed for a more strategic view of the battlefield (with L2 having huge pvp battles), while click to move still kept the apm high because you should always be on the move for better positioning. Haven't played enough of other mmos to rank anything correctly. ...

I agree with all of those except for "everything is farmable". I agree with Intrepid's stance on rare/scarce resources. But just a question for you. You've played a ton of mmos. How many of them you've played for hundreds or thousands of hours? And could it be that you liked the surface lvl of NW's systems (due to you not leveling it to the max) and didn't get to a point where you might've disliked the endgame gameplay of it? And could it be that all those other mmos whose systems you didn't like were the ones that you ...

It could be argued that the whole artisanal system is quite literally "100% of people crafting" because it's all interconnected in one way or the other. And it's interconnected exactly because Intrepid designed it for the 100% of people. And the pvp is designed in an almost-impossible-to-avoid way too. And the whole world is built around the idea of pvp being unavoidable. And they could either design pve for everyone, and disregard those who want to crunch numbers (in the same way that pvers are somewhat disregarded with the unavoidable pvp), or they could provide trackers to everyone and ...

How many games required or, at the very least, encouraged those players to partake in those activities though? L2 made you pve in order to get levels and gear and made you pvp to be able to pve. So both were kinda required. But its crafting wasn't really required cause you could just buy stuff on the market. AoC will have the same approach with pvx, but it will also heavily encourage participation in the overall artisanal system, purely based on the sheer amount of various way to participate. I feel like it'd be at least somewhat difficult to ...
