I feel like we're talking about different things. I'm talking about storage and not my inventory. When I hear "hoarding" I'm not thinking about a kid who has 20 rocks in his pocket, I'm thinking about this shit We will most likely be able to carry at least several huge rocks and pieces of wood on us, so there's no real realism when it comes to the volume and size of materials. And considering the absence of that realism I see no reason why I couldn't just put insane amounts of stuff into my freehold. Just pack it up ...

Yeah, that's on me, cause back when I played subnautica I'd drop stuff on the ground because all of my storage was already full. Like I said, I'm an avid hoarder in games. But they won't have you only carrying 3 logs of wood or one rock, because that's what your character would be physically able to carry. That's just bad game design outside of super realistic simulator games. No, it would mean that I'll go looking for more points of storage. And considering that node storage is not linked, I literally have 86 points of said storage (86th ...

I was about to write a huge response, but then realized that we don't really know how exactly the pvp looting rights will work. Or at least I didn't manage to find any info on that on the wiki (mb I'm blind). My whole issue with mules would be completely solved if only the PKer could loot the mule. Maybe that's the missing piece of info that resolves this and, potentially, other problems related to PKing.

Imo the system feels very weak, as currently presented. I hope they've reworked it drastically, but I also kinda doubt that considering the recent info about corruption. I have an idea that I think might work, but it depends on how the pvp looting rights work and I don't think we know that part of the design either.

That is literally "world instances" from L2, that I've made a whole thread about in the past Though L2's weren't linked to boss hp/stages and were just on a timer.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 16:09:29
Nah, I'd only be fine with the system if only the PKer could loot their victim. Otherwise it's still the same issue I had previously. If only one person can loot a mule, that means that there's an upper limit to the reward and that limit stops at a single full inventory, which would be twice the amount of a killed player (again, in the context of "you drop 50% of your mats"), but it'd still be "fair" cause you not only get corruption but you also can't trade your mats away so you either gotta survive with a ...

Ah, right, you suggested it being visible. I missed that. I'd still prefer corruption only being gained through murder, but there's still a chance that Intrepid will give it to partymates or whoever attacked the victim too, so we'll have to wait till testing to see what they decide to do.

I expect most mobs to be social within their subtypes. And have scouts that can roam around a location and when they see you they run back to their friends and agro them onto you.

I had this kind of idea for balancing of the whole system. grinding off corruption takes only 5-10 minutes on high value mobs (with the timer increasing with each PK counter tick obviously) any loot picked up from the victim gets "marked" and only drops from the PKer if he's killed by a BH once the PKer removes corruption, he gets a debuff that lets any BH murder him for free (the PKer doesn't flag up against the BH, so he suffers x1 death penalties; debuff goes away once any BH kills the PKer; green debuffed PKer doesn't gain ...

I mean, to me that description sounds like my party trying to kill the enemy party that was holding a spot. The enemy was overgeared so we'd kill ourselves several times against them, but after trying different approaches we might be able to get a win, cause either rng was on our side or the enemy slipped up (which in pve's case would mainly just be ability/mechanic rng being more favorable towards players in a particular run). And unless the game's pvp balance is completely out of whack, there's usually at least a few parties on the server that ...

Talking from personal experience, you'd be surprised All it takes is just a bit of strong propaganda and properly placed limits on information inflow. Families get destroyed and are ready to fight each other. Obviously the game can't really do either of those things (outside of RP), but I do think that private gain can trump "family" connections. I've seen quite a few guilds fall apart due to gear acquisition drama or farming spot rights. Node benefits and those same farming spots could be strong influences on inner guild drama.

I've had people that I could literally never beat. No matter how stronger I became at my class, they always found a way to beat me. And I've had several guilds that managed to wipe my own w/o any issues each time we fought each other, be it at party vs party lvl or full GvG. And both of those cases were across months of gameplay, with at least several daily encounters and dozens of such encounters during sieges every week. And I've seen people quit the game because they felt like fighting those guilds was useless due to ...

Like I said, winning is subjective. I don't care for the aggregate, because if we were to take the aggregate - that boss saw you as the easiest content around. It's just that you don't respect AI rights

Because this still allows friends to abuse the feature. It doesn't introduce any positive feedback into the system. And prevents normal greens from killing a Red and getting his own loot, while my suggestion allows for that, while also lets BHs return the loot to the victim of the PKer.

The only assured loot for the BH is the loot from the PKer's victim. And that particular loot will only drop when a BH kills the PKer. And as I said in the post, if PKer's friend is a BH, but doesn't return that loot to the victim he'll get kicked from the BH organization and will be prohibited from joining it again.

So Blizzard fucked up in their design and CS. We should hold Intrepid to a higher standard. I expect them to mute/ban repeated offenders of racist/sexist/etc attacks. So this sounds like you could just make your own guild and keep it the way you want it to be. I've done so countless times throughout the years of playing Lineage 2 (which some people call super toxic). I kicked people when they were dumbasses and stopped most unproductive conflict in guild chat when I saw it, because it didn't help the guild. Anyone who disliked my rulings could go fuck ...

I think they just forget that the PKer might still have some of his own loot and could potentially drop gear too. And those things would be purely BH's. On top of that you have the rewards within the BH system itself. But it's difficult to talk about those cause we got nothing to talk about.

And I addressed this point. Even when you come to the top, there's gonna be people doing their best to take you down. And if the game's design allows that, you gonna have a tough time being at the top. L2's private servers rarely allow that, which is why I've had cases where some people were completely unbeatable, but Ashes could design their classes in such a way that there are no unbeatable player opponents. RPS design will definitely help with that. And when you then apply the zerg potential to the equation, you have yourself a never-ending fight ...

So that just balances out the pvp side of everchanging enemies. But am I wrong in equating a mass of players with boss rng? Noaani said that he considers mass pvp being the high end pvp content in an mmo (and I agree). With mass pvp you gotta know how to control your enemies on a granular scale, because some parties might not react to your baiting or might overreact and your slight bait would lead to a few deaths on your side which makes you overextend to res them, and so on and so on. Obviously you can ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-11-02 02:53:11
So this is where we come back to Noaani's argument of "someone can always bring more people". How many "you"s are there in the mmo genre? And how many people can they realistically kill in 1v5-7 per each one of "you" fights. I don't doubt that there're insanely skilled players out there and I'm sure they'd be able to beat a ton of people (like I said, I've seen that happen, though usually through overgearing on top of their skill, rather than pure skill). But what would be the limit? PvE limits the amount of insane people you could ...
