Mule PKing

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-29 18:21:18

I think this is the main point here though. We have 2 scenarios. One is a mule standing next to a player who's gathering whatever resource. In the majority of cases it'd be pointless to attack the mule because you got no clue about its contents (unless you've been spying on this player for a long time). The second one is a player riding a mule towards a node. The chances are, the mule has resources in it (otherwise why ride a mule, unless you're baiting the PK). And if the mule was utilized, it'd mean that it has ...

Griefing a grinding spot

Or you can just PK them and suck it up with the penalties. Also, the game will be much much much more party-based than BDO, so you won't be soloing all the farming locations. If anything I doubt you'll be able to solo a valuable location at all.

L2 had a few classes with a party TP, a solo TP and there were instant TP scrolls that anyone could use. That shit would not work in Ashes, unless they could only be used with an empty inventory.

If you're not using a mule to carry shit, why are they even in the game? And if you do use them to transfer stuff, like I already explained, you'll be punished for doing so instead of doing 10 runs with your character, because using a mule means less risk for the attacker but up to x10 risk for the carrier. How is that in any way fair or good? Big quantities of resources are what's valuable. Say there's a node that needs a ton of wood for the siege, but it was recently overgathered by the sieging forces ...

And that direction is random, according to the OP, so those 50m could tp you into even more enemies, which completely defeats the point. And as has been pointed out, there's mage's teleport which is a whole damn school of augments, so if you were afraid of dying that much - get mage as your secondary and tp around to your heart's content. There'd either have to be a ton of limitations on this kind of TP system or it would be near useless. And to me that sounds like a pointless waste of dev time.

Just make a lv5 PK char with lv1 gear

This has been my understanding as well, but there's possible other interpretations of the Steven's quote and there's a chance that only one of your characters is a citizen. So until further clarifications, we don't know what's gonna be the case in the game.

Players owned towns

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-30 04:27:24

Unless she was talking about some RMT way to buy in-game gold that you then use to become a mayor of an economic node (not really owning a town still) - no, there is no such feature.

They haven't explicitly stated this, but I'd assume the toggle would control this interaction as well.

I am happy, just expected you to check this small thing. Especially considering that the whole OP is talking about the mule dropping shit and people looting it.

So reading a post, seeing that it's talking about mule dropping shit, not checking wiki to make sure if the OP is not bullshiting everyone - all of that is not critical thinking? That's the thing that disappointed me.

Escape spell

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 03:29:17

But does it serve its purpose with that kind of design? I feel like it doesn't. It would probably help out in 1v1 pvp, but then it would only realistically work w/o mobs around, because if you're trying to run away from danger TPing from a pvper into mobs that will now bring you down while the pvper can just run up to you on a mount would defeat the point of the TP. In any bigger pvp encounters you'll have your enemies spread out, so there's more chances to TP into them. And in 1vX or 1v1 PK ...

NPC sell cheap weak pots, while craftables are stronger. Mobs drop resources for it. Cheap ones are weak, expensive are better Sellable only in scientific nodes or from players Regen over time and suuuper rare and expensive instant ones CD of 5 secs between regen timers and instant ones are instant cd Almost no weight, but limited quantity (especially the instant ones) Identical for all No vial, so that it's a resource sink No interrupts, but any "decrease incoming healing(mana regen)" debuffs apply to potion regen Yes, at least 3 sizes No use for others Potion should be considered ...

Leveling speed

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 07:06:49

What if abilities at lvl25 worked just fine against lvl50, but their dmg was obviously lower and augmentations wouldn't be there yet because you gotta level up to get the augment points. This way even players at lvl25, who would have the full archetype skillset, could still do smth in pvp against higher lvls. And I'd imagine that it'd barely take any time to get to lvl25.

Leveling speed

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 07:21:50

But that's what I'm talking about. Don't think we know how exactly the skill points will be given out throughout the leveling process, but I suggest providing enough SP to max out your base ability build by lvl 25 and then you just use all kinds of augments on them to make them different and unique to you. And those fully leveled up abilities would hit any enemy 100% of the time. It's just that their effect/dmg would be lesser due to gear tier and no augments. I feel like it'd give low lvl players more confidence in any ...

How do you imagine the healing/mana potion system to balance the PvP?

Both archers and mages should have lower defense stats to counterbalance their dps output. So if that fighter or other melee class gets up to the ranged attackers - it immediately lowers the probability of the ranged character winning. But even outside of that, classes will have different gap closers to prevent exactly the thing you're talking about. Healing potions have barely anything to do with that. With instant or short cd pots those ranged classes can just kite melees for as long as they want and keep healing any dmg in the meantime. L2 had quite the problem ...

All of that assumes a guild or a well-meaning node. And while I'm all for pushing people to socialize more, any lowbie who's completely new to the game, doesn't know anyone and hasn't gotten the money for a citizenship would literally have no one to turn to for help. They can obviously just shout in chat, and should always do that, but there's no assurance that anyone will come right away. And if that lowbie keeps getting killed over and over again, they'll most likely just leave. Now I don't think this would be a very widespread occurrence, but ...

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 09:23:46

30+ sec ttk would most likely mean smth like 1-2min ttk in party play. With resurrections and proper healing one fight could go on for even longer. That would mean 1-2 uses of a 5min cd potion. Here's an example of a party vs party pvp from L2. The game had a faster ttk, but that's counterbalanced against AoC's ttk with CP potions (the yellow bar). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1M1H_Nfsx0 Almost 10 minutes to wipe out archers as mages. Potions have 5min cd (top row, 7-9 position). 2 uses. Fighters are thicker and their party composition would reinforce that feature even more, ...

The gain is in fucking someone's day completely over. You might not see any pleasure in that, but even on this forum we've already had a few people saying they gonna be griefing people a lot. I consider such people dicks and gonna hunt them to the best of my ability, but who knows how many such dicks there are and how many "me's" there are. I've seen quite a few PK alts in L2 that existed purely to fuck with people and do nothing else. I'm sure Ashes will have those too. And considering that PK count is ...

Death penalties already include lowered mob drop rates. What if those lowered rates applied to gathering too? This way it'd be pointless to do this workaround before going for some valuable gatherables. High lvl gatherers would most likely have protectors or would just be able to defend themselves in pvp, so it's not like they'd be the ones PKed the most, while lowbies/newbies would care more about being griefed rather than gathering rates. The lowered rates could even influence high lvl gathering more than low lvl one. This would push high lvl gatherers towards socialization and protection (from both ...

Reporting World Boss or Event to Settlement

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 11:47:56

Unless respawn timers and locations are absolutely random (i.e. from 5 minutes to several days and literally anywhere in the world) - people who're able to farm those bosses will have someone who's watching potential locations at potential times. Now if they are that random - yeah, why not. Though I'd assume there'll be just several people seeing that boss and reporting it immediately through discord (with a screenshot).

How to curb Hoarding

Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-31 12:22:17

As an avid hoarder I'm very very very much so against this suggestion. And see no real reason why an mmo should prohibit hoarding. If anything, there's literally a reason TO hoard. You might gather some summer plants that are used in an important recipe and then for 3 more seasons there's gonna be no such plants in the world. And now you can sell those plants at an increased price. And the more you hoarded during summer - the more you can sell and profit. Obviously others can do the same, but not everyone's a hoarder and not ...
