I'm so glad that I could enjoy whatever of the game I managed to enjoy exactly because I didn't spend hours setting up all that shit. Just played the vanilla version of the game w/ 0 addons or any of that shit and it seemed way more fun that way.

A huge guild just registers as jury (upwards of multiple hundred people potentially) and can pretty much control the entire process, just based on the statistical possibility of their members getting picked to be the juror on any given case. At that point you're literally giving those "mafia" guilds the power to control who gets punished and who doesn't. The "RPers love this mechanic" is cool and all, but when a huge hardcore guild is abusing said mechanic it's no longer just an RP thing. And I know what exactly Steven is talking about in that quote. I've been ...

Except guilds do not control or own nodes. The best they can do is take up as many citizenships as monetarily possible and be "effective" rulers, but unless someone destroys the node, I doubt they'd just leave it. As for removal of exploitable systems, we don't necessarily need to remove them, but we should minimize the potential of those exploits. Or at least decrease their severity to the minimum. The currently proposed system already has a fairly low number of exploits, which can be minimized even further with just a few balancing touches. The jail system seems to have ...

It was L2 (maybe even L1) and not BDO. BDO took L2's system and bastardized it. I find that a bit ironic

Literally my point and we have the same view on the suggested system, but yet again you're stuck on semantics.

Has there been some new info on TL? Quick google didn't quite reveal anything new.

Genshin. A ton of content until Alpha2 comes out and even after that.

Their "global release" better be fucking global. I'm still waiting on LW to release "globally".

You could have your prison thing for bots. Have a proper anti-bot reporting mechanic where the reported player has to do some activity on their side when they get reported, and if there's 3 people who reported them within 5 minutes and the player failed to do the activity - they get sent to jail. If you want to tie some pointless jury to that - you can. And then the reported player can get out of jail immediately if they were afk and got wrongfully accused, but they'd still get pinged to GMs for the report (in the ...

When you start your character's journey, the map should be completely covered with fog of war. Walking around can lift that fog and give you exploration experience. It also marks some points of interest on the map (big bosses that were in direct line of sight for the player, and such). But those marks only last a week (just for example). And after that week you'd need to go back to that place to "remap" them. The overall fog of war will stay lifted and show you the layout of the land itself (cause the underlying environment won't change), ...

That's why I said that the reported player can return immediately. The player doesn't die, while still remaining in the same place. And the system would definitely need to track repeated report sends. If the same 3 dudes go around reporting every single person they see - they get pinged for harassment and get sent to jail just like a bot would (except with maybe no immediate escape). And obviously all of this is under the pretense that there's a live GM that would get pinged by all those reports and could monitor the situation live.

Weapon and armor smithing.

I mean, that applies to any issue relating to GMs though. There's an exploit in the game? Think of how many times it'll be used at scale and how much will the in-game system flag it for GMs? There's harassment of other players? Same shit. There's mass reporting? Same shit. That's the usual case with live GMing, so it's on Intrepid to setup the tools required for those GMs to maximize their output w/o burning themselves out. Some automation of the imprisoning here and there, with GM pings for later checkup. Some abuse prevention of "if reported the same ...

I mean, the benefit would be the removal of potential bots w/o gaining corruption (in case you don't care about their loot). And depending on how those automated systems will be set up, some bots might circumvent them and just keep grinding, while all those GMs are super busy with smth else. The system could be tracking the amount of people around the reported person relative to the amount of reports received. Or maybe just track event participation (be it bosses/sieges/whatever). But yes, active GMs and proper anti-bot system are supposed to prevent this stuff from happening, but we ...

You still drop stuff on normal death too. And your stats decrease too, if you "delevel" by the way of XP debt. Dropping gear is just a logical upscaling of punishment for dying for criminals. And grinding off your corruption is not a punishment, it's a way to avoid said punishment. And the BH system is there to make that avoidance harder.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 05:20:18
It has logic in the design's intent. Steven's trying to promote pvping so dying flagged reduces your penalties. Steven wants pve to have its own risks so dying to a mob unflagged has higher penalties than dying in pvp. And Steven wants to deter people from attacking pacifists, while still allowing such activities, so dying red has ever-increasing penalties (volume-wise, even though multiplier stays the same). And to prevent genocides as much as possible, high PK counts have the highest possible penalties of dropping gear. That looks like a logical progression of penalties, considering the design of the game. ...

And in my experience ~30% of karma (corruption) removal was done by other players, either by the victim themselves or by someone else. And the only reason that percentage is low was because there was no BH system and the karma removal was fairly quick. With a proper balancing, those 30% would probably come closer to 70-80%, with the remainder being just grinded off on mobs. That sounds like a player-enacted punishment within the current system. Someone around the PKer decided to punish him and did so. It is no different from some randoms just saying "oh yeah, he's ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 07:14:32
And in my understanding 5 minutes (if that) of interaction for hours of "punishment" is way smaller, relatively speaking, than 1-2 minutes of direct player-enacted punishment. Prison is still a "system-controlled punishment", because it's the system that's keeping you in prison, not players. While in the current system, players are the jury and the executioner. The system only does the basic job of penalizing your death, if players decide to kill you as punishment for your crimes. If you're so hellbent on introducing even more player activity into the equation - make the PK count removal quest be tied ...

Just apply the same "a few random people who signed up get picked" mechanic to the social org that's responsible for PK count decreasing quest. A PKer comes to the NPC and wants to decrease his count. The NPC then assigns several people (from the list) that the PKer has to trade/talk with. The trading would be tracked by the system and would set a value to the PK count amount that is then applied to the resources being traded (prices correlated through the node's local market). The person assigned through the quest tells the PKer which resource they ...

It's a clip of a dude who clicks his skills with a fucking mouse. And Noaani has said before that he never even needed to look at his bar in combat (nor did he really had the time). And I trust Noaani when he says that because I was the same. I saw multiple videos with people clicking skills in L2, when I was trying to find gameplay that would represent my lvl of skill. So the "context" here is that EQ2 might be way faster than what was shown in the clip, but it was not shown - ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 08:39:50
Yeah, I wouldn't know how exactly not looking at the bar or clicking it influences the flow of your combat because I haven't played EQ2 extensively. But Noaani has and says that the combat is fast and requires a ton of actions. And I can draw a parallel between that information and my own experience of "I know for sure that the videos that I could post do not represent the gameplay that I experienced", so why couldn't it be the same for EQ2. And I can even look at BDO videos and see just a few dodges here ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 08:46:58
Do people click abilities in BDO? Can they even? And if they can/could, would you consider them being good at pvp if they did? Could they even be good at pvp if they had the time to take their eyes off of their opponents? Cause in L2 you didn't really have time to take your eyes off of your enemy. The ttk was usually too quick for you to do that. And from all the things you've said about BDO, I'd assume it's the same there. And you like to ask people "how good were you in pvp? what's ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 09:06:49
Again, I got no clue what's the upper limit of EQ2's actions. Or what its gcd feels like. To me, from the videos, it looks like there's barely any noticeable gcd, if at all. At least nothing different from simple animations in BDO, just at a slower pace overall. But the pace of the battle seems roughly similar. There's constant movement in both games, there's constant ability use in both games (with both of them having some breathing space between abilities, for one reason or the other). You've said that BDO has up to 40 skills, but how many ...
Post by Ludullu on 2022-07-17 09:29:40
Yeah, to me BDO seems fairly slow. Yes, you gotta dodge here and there correctly, but even from the video you posted, it's mainly a waiting game for a half-second impact, while doing 3-4 same abilities. And I'd assume it's even simpler in mass pvp, just because you don't have the benefit of taking your time with the fight. And even in the last video that mag posted, I don't see any precision aiming as I would've imagined it to be for peak action fighting. It's mainly general direction and 30-40 degree conal aoe or a pointed 3-4m diameter ...

I wrote that before your response to Mag. I appreciate you explaining more about BDO's mechanics. I knew that Mag counted all moves as "skills" and just let it slide, while counting the real decisions in that fight. To me a "I move towards the enemy, do an attack, see if it landed and tree out into more attacks or dodge and run" as 4 decisions, even if it took 20 skill uses to execute. And by the looks of it, those were the 4 main decisions in that fight (I mean, they probably always are, though that's obviously ...
