Pessimistic about the mage

A range of reflect mechanics and a range of how they work too. Have some additive effects for several reflects, where multiple reflects in an aoe all hit the mage, which makes the mage die before the targets do. Again, this obviously have to be balanced with CDs and costs and availability, but I do think that mageball aoes can exist while also not being too op.

I'm probably missing something here, cause I haven't thought this through deeply enough, but why wouldn't it work if an aoe that does 100dmg to 5 people did 250dmg back to the mage, cause each target reflected 50 back? Mages would have to have few times more hp than other archetypes if they were purely hitting with aoes against crowds. I'd imagine that 100% reflect would be a bit too op, but why would that kind of reflect not work?

I was thinking more in the context of a siege gate push or smth similar. Obviously open world encounters wouldn't really go as smooth as that for either side, but they're always way more complex so I don't think that mageballs are that big of a problem there. L2 had a bigger problem of "30sec invulnerability for your whole alliance as long as you didn't hit anyone", which kinda removed any "aoe reflect" interactions. Tanks would still use the reflect in smaller skirmishes and in 1v1s, but huge battles and especially sieges usually revolved around the CD of the ...

Except this is not some random crime. It's a murder. Losing an item (we don't even know the rng chances btw) is not even that big of a punishment. We also don't know the details of how those items will be chosen or how they'll track what exactly can be dropped. There might be several ways to circumvent the system. And while I'd support a sort of threshold of PKs before which you can't drop items, considering how harsh the currently planned punishments will be - I highly doubt this will change all that much.

Yes, Flash was quite strong, but it's an aura hit instead of a ranged aoe, so the archers James talked about didn't care about this. And depending on the chronicles, even melee classes could fight against this. And if mages just stood in one place spamming Flash, they themselves would get aoed upon by enemy mages or other classes.

Unless you manage to find a quote for this - this isn't true. That screenshot people posted before is supported by several voice quotes of "as long as you have corruption on you - you can drop full items". Steven just, yet again, made the system harsher than it was in L2. I personally disagree with it quite a lot, but until we test it there's not much point in discussing it.

100% sure is great but I cannot find any indication of this being the case. In what way are they harassing and griefing? Any verbal stuff is just muted and any flagged advances get pvped. So that pretty much only leaves mob manipulation and we don't know how that'll work and if it will even work in the first place. If they're fighting your mobs better than you - you're the weakling in this situation and you should go find a better-suiting place for yourself. And if they're just helping you get your loot (because they're always below 40% ...

First off, just to make my position clear, I do not see any mob manipulation as harassment or griefing. To me that's simply what the game allows you to do and everyone in the game gotta deal with it. This also includes the main counter to those actions - be in a fucking party. It's gonna be a party game, so be in a party. "Dropping mobs" doesn't work, because the mobs that would kill a party in that situation would've killed the initial puller way before he brings the mob to his target. But even if I did ...

Again, has there been any indication that this will be possible? Yes, I know that it might be logical to assume that we'll have some sort of ability that somehow transfers aggro from us onto an unsuspecting passerby, but Intrepid could just avoid having that ability and this whole premise would crumble. And if you're talking about dudes aggroing mobs, dying to those mobs near another person and then those mobs aggroing onto that other person - even that could be avoided through design of the mob aggro mechanics. It took a few minutes to get down to the ...

The super funny joke in all of this for me is that "this game" released back when L2 started having private servers You pretty much described how they worked with their "donations" and the currency you'd get for them. So, for me, TL will not only be "L3", but exactly the L3 that I was playing back then (well except for the fucking autobattle, but I was just a way too stubborn dumbass who never botted, so that's more of a me issue). This is so damn funny though.

Dunno what official servers did, so that might be the reason for James' reaction, but privates started off by simply selling items behind the scenes to make money to keep the servers alive, and obviously a ton of people hated that. Then pretty much the majority of servers just adopted the "low cost sub" of "your rates are higher than the standard ones", with some low-mid tier gear in the shop for the donation currency and general consumables on top of that. There's a shitton of range of that approach, depending on the rates of the server (pretty much ...

I've played on a few lowrate servers that mainly had cosmetics and a super cheap "sub". To me that sub (or in case of TL the paid battlepass) is not really p2w. I totally get how some people would see it as p2w and I understand their pov, but I just consider it as a "paying devs for the good job" kinda deal. Now, I can't absolutely say that those servers didn't do some shifty shit behind the scenes, but I at least never heard of that stuff back when I played there (while there's been big drama related ...

How can we improve corruption and world pvp?

Post by Ludullu on 2023-05-24 07:02:07

I'm kinda hung up on the "equipped" part of this Any amount of corruption allows a player to drop equipped gear upon death. The higher the corruption the greater the chances. What if we only drop literally the stuff we're wearing and not the stuff in our inventory? At that point all you gotta do is carry a weak set with you that you can PK in. There, problem solved. No "took-a-month-to-farm" gear lost. This is just yet another reason why I think it's silly to discuss and argue about this system. We've got no clue about the details. ...

Been watching it for the past 7 hours. Love it so far. It's a combo of mobile L2 versions and older L2 (way more mobile than old though). This will definitely be my main timewaster until Alpha2 comes out. Well, that is if the game even comes out in 2023. All the auto-battle stuff is a bit annoying to me, but it'll just allow me to keep up with the "botters" that I would've been way behind if the game didn't have auto-battling. Otherwise it's such a fucking nostalgic game for me.

And what if instead of this whole pointless argument we just keep telling Intrepid that we want the first few PKs to be very quickly clearable? Huh? Wouldn't that be swell? Why must you even die after your first PKs? And if you don't die - the item drop is not even an issue. There! Issue solved by not existing.

I was watching Steparu and even against mobs that gave him 20-30xp, autobattling brought him close to death several times. He once went to fight mobs barely above his lvl and they hit him pretty hard. I doubt you'd be able to autogrind anything worthwhile at top lvls. As for botters, they'll always exist and they'll always be ahead of everyone else on the server. Autobattling gives the casual players a chance to at least stay a few steps behind them instead of months-worth of grinding. But yes, the content will be pure grindfest. The mobs will just stand ...
