Don't remember if they have but it would not only be very weird to let us use the CC w/o letting us save our creations, but also really stupid to go against a shitton of other games that do let you import/export your characters.

Have you heard of a little movie (based on reality) called Moneyball? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tzin1DgexlE If that's not a "tracker" being used to figure out the best way to reach their goal - I dunno what is. As a matter of fact I'll go rewatch it right now cause I haven't seen it in a long while and it's a great movie

Ahhh, you changed your pfp again. Thought it was a post from some new chatter

Nah, but I mainly judge what I wanna read and pay attention to by pfp first and then by the name if the pfp is the auto-generated one (hate them with a passion cause half of these fuckers look the same). So when I saw your pfp and read the comment I thought it was someone new. Then read the comment and double-checked the name cause the comment read like you

Nope. I prefer current design because it encourages people to at least try and defend themselves.

Considering that sprint is tied to mana right now, I'd probably go with the same tie for blocking too. And would probably add a passive ability to decrease the ratio of "dmg blocked" and "mana used". This ability would be in the weapon skill tree and could maybe even have 3 version for different groups of weapons. And in that context I'd like to see a system that tracks which part of the attacker's ability "hit" you in the block. For tab target stuff, if you had the block up before the attacker started casting and still you still ...

I think it was per class because BDO is gender/race-blocked iirc. So you couldn't make a human dude's face/body and then somehow copy the same values onto a an elf woman's class.

Resource scarcity is the whole point. You want to farm something but there's people already farming that location - either fight them for it or try joining them. That's the game.

Imo this would just add hundreds of unneeded complex animations during mass pvp.

L2 had 33 (+2 crafter and gatherer) classes. All were really unique (with maybe 3 elemental mages being the closest ones to the "same class" functionality). A few were on the less used side, but still had their benefits in some cases. And imo they were as well-balanced as an mmo can expect to be (outside of a few updates where some were OP ). Intrepid is trying to balance their design around each archetype being in the party. If they succeed at that, the game will already be way more balanced towards the general class trends in games ...

As a streamer enjoyer myself I can answer this at least from my own pov. In most cases I watch a streamer who either has a different pov/logic from me or the same. I watch the one with differing opinions to see the other side of some conversation or to see him play a game that I have already beaten to see if there's something in the game that I might've missed (be it thematic or even gameplay). And I watch the one with the same opinions/playstyle for those games that I will most likely not play myself but ...

Yes, they were all absolutely the same. Like, literally did the same thing, so you would've hated it which is why I'm glad you never touched it.

And I played 12 years of open world dungeons with limited mob spots with dozens (and sometimes hundreds) of people fighting for those locations. And I (and many others) loved that. Everyone who doesn't like scarce materials can just not play the game. Steven knows his design and who it appeals to.

Yes, and most people will already run low options because mass pvp will be a huge mess of animations otherwise. So any additional animation that has no functional reasoning behind its existence would pretty much be a waste of dev time.

It comes down to list of priorities and the energy to do the things on said list. It's way easier to watch a stream than to play a game. You can also do smth else while watching the stream. "Lurking" is quite popular exactly because of that. There's also the social aspect of chatting with other like-minded people and the overall feeling of being a part of a community. And an even bigger aspect of parasocialness where this cool person is you "friend" that you get to watch/experience stuff with. And for some people (me being my biggest example) ...

The game's content will be mostly party-based (well, at least the content where you might die at the hand of another player). Party-based content means, at the very least, 8v8 pvp. If Intrepid allows us to resurrect our partymates during pvp, then it'll be way more than just <16 deaths. If we then take into the account that these kinds of fights will most likely happen during mob farming (cause most other pvp encounters will have more people), no one will be looking at a cool death effect because you'll be dodging mob attacks while also trying to kill ...

Yeah, definitely hope to see the same kinda thing with the scorpion thing.

Yep, I'd expect to see those in the game.

Dunno about ESO and NW, but I'd bet that the other 3 had limits because of coding limitations. Well, at least L2 had the 2.147kkk limit because iirc that's the 32-bit code limit. This thing https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2,147,483,647

They're nesting dolls for each other. Node system is the Reactive World and Player Agency Meaningful conflict is Player Interaction, Player Agency and Risk vs Reward Economy is the same three Narrative is the Engaging and Immersive Story and the other way around These are all just different words for the same concepts.

And the reason why I pretty much never played on official L2 servers and don't believe in Throne and Liberty is because NCsoft is trash.

I've got a better suggestion to hide the corruption. It's called "don't kill people who don't fight back"

Ships will use potion launchers instead of canons. They use arcane arts instead of gun powder. https://ashesofcreation.wiki/Guns_and_gunpowder

Being corrupted is not meant as a gameplay style. As Aerlana said, getting corruption means killing a green player who didn't fight back and Intrepid doesn't want to promote that kind of gameplay. And I don't think we've heard anything about getting quests from the story's antagonists. This is not alliance vs horde or smth like that, where there's 2 sides that players can participate in. edit: double-checked and Steven has said there'll be quests on the "darker side" that will be related to The Others, but with 0 concrete info on what exactly that entails. But if those ...

Corruption is there to provide players agency while still limiting their genocidal tendencies. And those limit are supposed to be enforced not only by the BHs, but by other green players too. And if you hide your corrupted status, you're literally avoiding punishment. It's not about working against humanity. It's about encouraging and rewarding murder of green players. It would be quite illogical to say "we don't condone that, but allow you to do it if you want" and then follow that up with a "here's rewards and quests that explicitly tell you to go kill a dude".

You've mentioned that we'll have quests related to The Others that will be on the "darker side" of gameplay. Does that mean that we'll have to be corrupted to complete those quests? Will there be any quests that will make us go corrupted to complete them?
