Judging by the variety of npcs (the sold cosmetics that is), I'd say there's quite a big choice of potential stories and lore for different regions and locations. But outside of that base lvl of theming, the main "lore" of the game will be the stuff the players do in it. I'm sure a lot of people have heard stories from EVE that sounded incredible. All the scheming, betrayal, years-long planning, absolutely massive defeats and toppling down of huge corporations, etc. Imo that's the "lore" of EVE. And AoC has a huge potential to have the same things happen ...

I'm used to complete invisibility for rogues, so anything more visible would be fine with me. I personally prefer the "predator" look to the environmental hints, mainly because during huge fights ya won't see the ground so rogues would be completely invisible and iirc Intrepid don't want that. "Predator" mode would still be visible if you know what to look out for.

I am curious how they'll deal with bodyblocking against tab abilities that are going to people behind you (during a big fight like a siege or smth). If the system is projectile-based, then in theory that projectile should just hit you instead. But then the whole premise of "tab can let you hit people in the back" kinda crumbles. And if tab does allow for that, the whole "it's projectile-based" phrase is kinda false. I'd personally be fine with ranged tab attacks going directly to their targets, but I feel like the action combat crowd would be butthurt over ...

Yeah, I feel like there'll be another wave of butthurt once more people notice that attacks go through, if they do

I think I'll start asking about detargeting in the dev stream q&a. A definite requirement to make tab target pvp better and more skill-demanding. L2's pvp was definitely way more dull before it.

And the current system has requirements for mechanical skill too. Especially once they show more action abilities (as they themselves said, this stream was more about tab). But these past few days I've seen quite a few people saying that action combat purely means headshots and very high precision requirements. And that's just not feasible for what Intrepid is going for with their other designs. I just find it quite goalpost-movey when people start with "oh this is not action combat", but then, when they're shown and told that you can use abilities and shoot your bow w/o a ...

How did they work? Cause my google skills were not enough to find info on that in a quick search.

Definitely suggest reading all of that wiki. You'll have your jaw on the floor for several hours. You'll also know what the game has and stands for. That would definitely put you way above a lot of people out there, in terms of knowledge about the game.

If you operate in your node and have just PKed a bot, but you have a good reputation overall, I'd assume other people would at the very least not attack you immediately and let you grind off your corruption. And if your group of friends (or you yourself) is a well-known band of bot eradicators - you will be hailed as heroes by people. But encouraging PKing be changing its nomenclature is a bad idea. You can use rat poison to help people with pests, but as soon as you use that poison on a human - you'll be ...

Btw, just to point it out, this was a necroposted thread and the OP's last activity was in august of last year Don't you love a necropost

If Intrepid will have a 100% sure way to tell when someone's cheating - yeah, why not.

Will you, by any chance, be playing a Summoner/Cleric?
Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-05 20:47:42
Yep, definitely a Summoner/Cleric
Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-05 20:54:03
Yeah yeah, I get it. I just find it funny. Especially when it's a serial necro like in this case. Nothing wrong with it, obviously, as I've done it myself before.

This would completely remove any kind of stealth/covert actions between warring guilds or nodes or even parties. Most likely you'll be interacting with the same groups of people in your day-to-day gameplay. And you'll be quite likely pvping with them quite often too (or PKing each other here and there). And if you always see your enemy approaching, the enemy will never be able to stealth you. Now you could add some counter mechanics, but at that point you're developing a solution to a problem you yourself created. It's an interesting idea, but I'm not sure if it fits ...

We got no info on any of that, but here's a video from pre-alpha. People could outrun it on foot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq5ybMyF8nc And I somehow doubt that caravans will be changed to being much faster than this. Mainly because the whole point of attackers and defenders is to be able to stay on pace with the caravan itself, while pvping each other.

Highly doubt it'll keep that 1mil, but even if it does - I would still not give a single fuck about sellable cosmetics

Like I said in the post, it's what some people have asked for. Headshots and high precision reticle targeting is literally the staple and main mechanic of shooters. And as I said in another post, the game will already have other action abilities. It was shown in the previous combat stream and devs literally said "we're concentrating more on tab for this stream" in this one. I don't know how ESO works, but I'm fairly sure NW has headshots and very precise hitboxes, when it comes to its ranged attacks. And those kinds of attacks fit nicely for the ...

I prefer open seas being the only place that's always outside of the corruption system. Giving players control over the system will most likely lead to bad results, which will in turn lead to people leaving and said system changing to keep them.
Post by Ludullu on 2022-10-06 15:18:57
Was it random? Skill based? Just directly targeted? Cause obviously Intrepid could just add a headshot mechanic to the game and give even tab abilities some way to hit it, while action hits could have a 100% to do so, if the person was skilled enough. Yet, they haven't still, even after all the "please make this a precision shooter game" requests.

So pretty much all of your examples are about action low/non-magic medieval games that have body separation when it comes to targeting, because that's just how you make a medieval action game. They are all either small scale or single player games and from a quick look through a few videos of gameplay their speed of combat seems really low (even when players are on horses). Ashes will be a high magic, high speed, huge scale mmo with hybrid combat (GV, MO looked way more action-based than hybrid to me, at least when it came to archers), so pretty ...

If Narc gets into the CC program, take it up with Intrepid and tell them you don't appreciate those kinds of CCs as the representors of the game. And if you're so inclined, you could go and report Narc's videos for language. I personally don't support either of those things and do find Narc's humor funny at points, even if he does indeed go overboard fairly often, but you're free to do as you please and to give feedback that you see fit. Narc does not represent the community. He is a part of it and, at the current ...

@Gandalfthegrape you haven't read the wiki properly. Caravan's zone is an opt-in system. When you come across a caravan or it just happens to ride up to you, you'll be asked "do you want to attack or defend or ignore the caravan". And unless you choose either of the first two options, you won't participate in the pvp for the caravan.

Imo it'd be better to just apply directionality to blocking. You have a full block in your frontal cone, half or 30% block on the sides (45 degrees on either side) and no block from behind. Cause I find it silly that, if I have a hugeass double-handed sword in front of me that pretty much completely covers my dunir body, I can still be hit through it if there's several people hitting me directly from the front. Same reasoning definitely applies to shields too.

If this is related to the AMA, yes, it's kinda weird that they said they'd look at questions on other platforms yet completely limited the AMA to reddit. I know that AMA is a reddit thing, but still.

One of the rare cases where I completely agree with you.
